Luxury Watches

I'm assuming you did not know the symbol for BITCOIN like you would for the $ being the symbol for the DOLLAR. If that's the case, I'll accept 10,000 BITCOINS for the four (4).
I don't know which one I like better, the Daytona or the simple old Datejust. You don't seel many Daytonas in Stainless and that Datejust just screams understatement with panache. Given my eyes and preferences right not, I'd probably go with thr Datejust. Actually ther one I would really want is a regular old polar explorer (Explorer with the white face),. If I could get one of those, I'd probably give the Seadweller to my son

Interesting thread, I was gifted a dive watch by my friends widow for dealing with His estate guns. Its a Omega "Big Blue" SM120c. He got it in the Caribbean while working as casino exec. I had a jeweler look at it to see if it needed cleaning or anything, and He offered me more $$ than I thought a gift for helping out should be worth. She wouldnt take it back when I explained the value.

This watch is tank compared to what I normally wear, so it just sits in the safe with the guns. What would the current value be for a nice grade watch? Synthetic band, keeps time fine as long as I shake it now and then. Just curious..

Currently on the pre-owned market about $4500-$5000, from a reputable reseller.

Les post about the Omega Seamaster cronograph reminded me of the first watch I bought with my own salary in 1976.:D

A Tissot Automatic Navigator. It uses the same movement with the second and the minute hands of the cronograph superimposed in the central axis.

The design is very 70s with the "lobster" bracelet. It's a bit battered I used it during my military service and worse, it was on my wrist when I went down with my Kawa Z1 in 1985 doing 115 mph.

But it still works and keeps time well.:D

I have heard so many watch jokes .. I know it's my own fault for having used the nickname of Rolex for over 30 years in various forums...

Back in the mid '80's business was pretty good. Splurged on a pricey watch.
Omega Seamaster. Around 800 bucks, if memory serves. Main that was a great watch. Kept time and was rugged.
Fast forward. Stopped working. Sent to the Omega place and got a quote for repairs. More than the watch cost to begin with. Best I remember they had a pretty extensive re do. To include the case. Well, no.
So I put it in my desk drawer and forgot about it. Every once in a while I would see it and think, that's crazy money for repairs.
Forward a little more. Needing a new watch and the wife says, remember your Omega. I'll pay for the repairs. :D
Well, guess who thinks he tthrew it away when cleaning out the desk and got a little angry thinking about it.
I haven't given up yet. But so far... nothing.

I have a Tag Heuer 3000 Professional Dive watch ,Black & Gold, 200 meters
I was told by a high end Jeweler that if I shipped it back to Tag
(Switzerland) they would refurbish for nothing.
I am a diver But I never have dove with it.
I have an Atomic T2 with computer

The first picture is my father's retirement Seamaster. He got it after 42 years at Republic Steel.
The second one is the watch my father gave me in high school. He got the watch as payment for doing odd jobs for a local businessman. I wore it my senior year and all through the war and college. Got a digital in the 80's. What was I thinking?

I don't know, if you have a 1928 Rolex Doctors Watch who'd the joke be on then? lol

Well, with a saddened heart I have to announce, through un-foreseeable circumstances, I'll not be able to acquire the Omega Seasmaster, Planet Ocean Co-Axel I had mentioned in another thread, my heart is broken. However, since I already had the money set aside for it I decided to add a little more and buy a watch that I've always wanted since they came out in the 80's!
The Cartier Roadster, I've wanted this watch from day one, but honesty couldn't afford it back then.
This is my 61st birthday present to myself in January. I haven't received it yet as it's on the way to me as we speak, but I'll get some wrist shots of it in person as soon as it arrives.
Here are some pictures from the jewelry store I purchased it from they used of the watch to sell it in the meantime.

LIke most gun enthusiasts, I also like precision mechanical items. I do wear a Tag Heuer, and have previously had a Rolex and a Omega Seamaster. But Recently I have decided to restore my Grandfathers Elgin gold pocket watch. There happens to be a local shop that has a couple of master watchmakers that even have there own designed watch they build from scratch. It is a pretty watch with a machined surface, and the Rotary International emblem engraved on the back. ( He was an original member of out local group about 100 years ago). The cost to totally refurb it, I could buy a fairly nice, but not luxurious, watch. They said it is in the Que, but will be mid March before it gets done. This is the only picture I have of it handy.

The watch hasn't run for over 50 years.

Very nice, but how do you like Postimage hosting site?
I was using imgur, great hosting, but deleted my account and images for obvious reasons, if you know what I mean?

I wanted an Omega Speedmaster Professional "Moonwatch" since I first saw an advertisement for one as a teenager, probably shortly after Apollo 11 landed in 1969. In the past $300 was about my limit for a watch, I have a couple that look nice and are certainly functional but I always had that desire for a true luxury watch and one with some kind of iconic status as well.

I figured that I'm not getting any younger so I bought this one as my Christmas present a few weeks ago. It has the new 3861 movement and the Hesalite crystal.
