Saw a ad for some 22's at todays prices of $10.00 a box@50. While I have no great need for these, I am always on the look out for accurate 22's. These were Norma ammo. Have never seen such before and was wondering if they were something special?? Any guesses out there?? THANKS!! :)

If it was Norma Tac 22 it is repackaged RWS R50 and is not far off from pre shortage price

Fired a lot of it. Good ammunition. Never cheap even pre-pandemic. Sincerely. bruce.

Bruce, dont care much about the cost if they are good stuff. I am more interested in function. I use a Series 70 with a Colt conversion unit and it mostly works great. However, the wrong ammo can lock up that floating chamber tighter the Dicks hatband. NO soft lead with this gun, Save those for my K 22's.. RWS is by the way, the ONLY ammo I have ever seen that blew up a gun. A 357 Colt Trooper was blown up, factory load. Threw a piece of steel through the range cover metal roof. These are if you dont know, solid guns to say the least. Of course they paid for the gun, but just goes to show you-- wear those glasses. :)

Please note. My main concern would be velocity. Cant seem to find the velocity for this stuff. These units require higher velocity ammo. as said, the target stuff wont cut it. ?? :)

JR, I've been trying to get a GI 22 conversion unit for my AR to run. I figured Federal Auto Match ought to be just the ticket, right? Not by a long shot. While it fills the chamber well and shoots accurately, feeding is another story altogether. Who wants a single shot AR?

The Norma TAC-22 has a muzzle velocity of 1082 fps
The Norma Match-22 also has a muzzle velocity of 1082 fps

I've seen reviews on Norma TAC-22, some say good, some say not so. The good seemed to be more from bolt action rifles and not so semi autos. I'm thinkin' thats generally the rule with most 22 stuff anyway.
From all I have read and watched about 22 ammo, when comparing accuracy of subsonic and high velocity ammo the difference is insignificant out to 50 yards. (Unless you are trying for one hole groups with a precision rifle).
Check out this comparison graph I found.
AR type 22 rifle with scope line of sight 2.5" above barrel and 50 yard sight in.

Green Frog, I've got a CMMG Bravo bolt conversion that works flawlessly with both CMMG and Black Dog mags. Every ammo I've tried, but I favor CCI AR .22LR or CCI SV.

Apparently the military version is/was more finicky than the CMMG Bravo unit you have. That may be why they didn't last very long in GI usage! I'm going to try it with some Mini Mags, and if they won't make it run well, it may have to find a new home with a military collector.
