Model 13 vs. Model 10

I'm thinking of buying a Model 13 (3" preferably).

I've held and fired a Model 10 but never have done so with the Model 13.

Is there a huge difference (beside caliber) between the two guns?

Thanks.

R

Depends.

Was the Model 10 you held/fired a heavy barrel or tapered barrel?

The heavy barrel Mod.10 will be nearly identical in feel to the Mod.13 … the tapered barrel Mod.10 will feel different.

My examples:
1st pic - Model 10 (tapered)
2nd pic - Model 13

Mod 10-6 HB marked 357 Mag

Purchased in the 70's in St. Louis. Was NITB and the box was unlabeled, but end printed Mod 28. Has larger smooth trigger.

For a carry piece stick with something you can get with a warranty. The 19 or 66 will do the job. The 13 belongs in safe or on the wall.

I have a model 14 and know of an affordable model 13 3 "
I asked my local gunsmith to change the barrel and cylinder 13 -> 14.
He replied, 14 frame is .38 special and 13 frame is .357 mag, he is not allowed to exchange parts. He claims the .38 special K-frame is weaker than the .357 mag K-frame.
Is he right?

I personally don’t care for barrels under 4” wether it’s a 38 sp or 357 mg. I do like the combat masterpiece k frame.
Any 4” barrel magnum revolver I prefer a N frame.

Is there any difference in the sights between the Model 10 and the Model 13? In other words, are they sighted in for different loads?
