Once Again, Killing Thieves has Consequences

And the guy that did the shooting was not the owner. Probably a minimum
wage employee. He messed up his life, for what?

As to the reason some minor offences aren't prosecuted. Prisons cost
taxpayer's money and the ones we have are already over crowded. Not
many of us want to pay more tax to build new prisons for minor
offenders. Money!

And then folks wonder why I'm not enthusiastically in favor of everyone carrying a loaded firearm everywhere and all the time...

I used to think that way till the border was opened, wide open for criminals and thugs from everywhere in the world. Now I
think the more guns that are carried by Texans the better. It
makes it harder for gun grabbers to come after them without
paying a steep price.

Today there is No Deterrent, jail, prisons are a joke for the most part so recidivism is rampant , just what can we expect? Most local DA’s are covered up, not enough time or staff. Solutions????
I say bring back prison farms, go to work at 7, lunch, back to work til 5, then to school, finish high school or/ and trade school.

My question is how long after the individual was shot before police found them. And if the other thief would of taken his friend to the hospital right away would he of lived? To me the thief that lived is responsible for the death for not getting him aid. And second this is also on the lawmakers/ district attorney's who refuse to convict criminals of misdemeanor crimes like stealing beer.

And DAs that apparently decide to prosecute the wrong person. (I say that with the limited information on this case so far and that may well change my opinion when more comes out.)

That’s the Magistrate Judge assigned to hear preliminary matters. Jail records typically don’t include counsel. I wonder if that’s a surety bond?

Dunno about Texas, but NM would only specify 'cash only' or 'property,' with the assumption nearly all are surety.

I did notice he had been served a warrant, so there was either a McLaughlin hearing after a warrantless arrest or a magistrate found probable cause before issuing a warrant that was subsequently served.

Texas statutes currently on the books goes farther than any other jurisdiction . It also flys in the face of Tennessee vs Garner , and is ripe to be at least partially overturned . And Texas juries have a history of being quirky about the unwritten concept of " .... Because He Needed Shooting " .

Absolutely , the current trends is various jurisdictions catagorically refusing to ever prosecuting misdemeanors is a big step to societal disorder , if not eventual collaspe
But we have not yet reached the level of anarchy depected in Mad Max , or the Purge .

No need to speculate. FBI — Table 12 Violent crime (murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault) was down 0.7%, property crime down 4% in 2019 from 2018; we'll know about 2019 to 2020 next month.

2018 to 2019...aka - the good ole days. Lets revisit this when the 2020 to 2021 statistics are out, like I said in my earlier post, "over the past year"

How does Tenn. v Garner apply in this case?
