Smith & Wesson CSX?

I can't disagree with a thing you said. If it's supposed to be "the new CS9" then they missed the mark.

It looks like a 1911 and a 45 Shield had an ugly baby. And is that fidget spinner, Glock trigger safety supposed to take the place of the grip safety? I'm not sure what market this thing is satisfying.

It reminds me a lot of my
CZ P–07, which is the pistol that got me into Hammer fired instead of Striker Fired, and I never turn back.

This might be good for someone who wants a 1911 that doesn't look or feel like a 1911. It'll be interesting to see what the price will be on the CSX.

Interesting. CSX was the logo for a railroad freight line in my area for a generation.

Still is. Although I miss the C&O/Chessie System with its kitten.

CSX locomotives are almost as boring looking as Norfolk Southern locomotives.

why S&W would pick this as the name is beyond me. I have/had a CS9, and a SAO just makes me scratch my head.

A Smith & Wesson version of the CZ P-07 with a M&P grip would be fine with me, but that'll never happen. My 5906 is nearly the perfect pistol except for the weight.

SAO or DA/SA? As a Sig fan, I can tell you which one I would prefer. In either case I can't see the purpose of the trigger dongle. I also find it odd that it does not have scalloped slide serrations and other design elements of the M&P series.

Seems like a good idea.
There are a lot of people who love M&P pistol but still look for 1911 shooting comfort.
I'm patiently waiting for official info with full specs.
I'm wondering how it would be, or not, better than M&P M2.0 with Apex set in place.

Maybe the slide serrations was subterfuge or maybe its not an M&P.

A brief search and I found 183 trademark applications on file for "CSX" from a horde of different entities.

As to the new "CSX" pistol... Could not possibly care less. If they had made the thing TDA perhaps in a single stack, I may have been modestly interested... But then that would have been a 3914 would it not?

There is one thing I do find attractive about it though... They chose not to put a bloody pic rail on it;)

Cheers

Well, it would be a 3914 if the slide is made of carbon steel, but a 3913 Melonite if it's a Nitrided stainless slide. Or whatever name Smith has come up with the process now that they do it themselves. :)

Other than that, I completely agree with your comments. I might look at it if it was TDA with either a slide mounted or frame mounted SINGLE SIDE decocker.

The maddening thing is that they made the best TDA compact sized 9mm semi auto, but stopped so that they could make a plastic frame gun to compete with Glock.

Other than that, I have no strong opinions on the topic!

Rumors and leaked photos of a new SAO semi auto pistol.

Supposedly the same size as the CS9, but with 10 or 12 round capacity.

The SAO thing, if true, is weird and certainly makes it not the 21st Century version of the CS9. Or maybe there are other variations coming.

I got the chance to see one of these yesterday and play with it a little. My first thought was they fit a lot of rounds in a small gun. 2nd thought was it’s pretty much a Sig 938 with more rounds. The trigger was nice.

From the short bit offered, it looks like a direct competitor and lower cost alternative to the Wilson EDCx9.

I could see my best gun bro grabbing one of these, so this kinda excites me just for him. I bet he will be on the early QC staff (unpaid of course!) for this one!

I’ll report back if that happens.

It’s more like a Sig 938 just not as pretty but more rounds. Trigger is good.
