Triggers & Springs for the SD

I put the Apex spring kit in my SD40 and then tested it with about 200 rounds of hollowpoints.
At the end of the trial the trigger was definitely lighter and smoother than it had ever been.........in fact.....it seemed like an ideal carry trigger.
Striker spring, trigger return spring and striker block spring were all I replaced.
Left the original trigger on and did not mess with the sear.
I agree with you 100% about not messing with the sear.

Against my Choice for a Galloway Trigger & Wesbaun Springs when I ordered a Hk USP Compact 357 SIG Barrel & a 380EZ Magazine I got a deal to spend a little more & ended up Buying the Apex Trigger & Spring Kit & ended up getting them both for FREE
Bad thing is the package got stolen off the porch 1/10/22 & now am going through a bunch of stuff trying to get it replaced over a week later
I needed the package as there's a gift in there for a Birthday on the 27th = a week tomorrow...
Ordered the black trigger from Apex with the FDE Safety

Just picked up an SD9VE. Have the Apex spring kit on order.

Sort of a whim purchase. It was the only variation of Smith 9 I didn't already own. Have a 39-2, 439, 5906, 6946, M&P and even an SW99. I thought I would snag an SD just because.

The trigger on mine isn't bad. A bit heavy at 8 pounds or so but very smooth, none of the grittiness one hears about with these. Since I grew up on DA revolvers I don't find an 8 pound pull all that difficult. Its definitely better than the DAO 6946.

The Apex spring kit turns the SD series into an almost ideal carry trigger.
Light enough for precise shooting with just the right take-up while not being an accidental discharge waiting to happen.
After you put the spring kit in........shoot about 200 rounds and see how good it gets.

My SD will be used mostly for carry & home defense but will also be used at the range

The Goofy hinged trigger on the SD pinches my trigger finger
That being said the one on my Shield 2.0 does not

S&W should offer & sell upgraded triggers for these & others with the hinged trigger but that would really hurt APEX

They have recently started putting better triggers on the Shield Plus models & it would seem they have seen the light

The pull isn't that bad factory & is smooth, but the reset is rough & gritty & needed some work + a little heavy with lots of pre travel & over travel

Update on the problem with my Package not arriving from MGW

***I assume it was stolen off the front porch on 1/10/22***

The Order was placed on 1/6/22, It was sent out by MGW on 1/7/22
It was delivered on 1/10/22 as per USPS & placed on the front door/porch, Package was Tracked

Here it is 1/21/22 & now being told the issue is being forwarded to MGWs claims department so they can attempt to track down the shipment with the USPS & Will reach back out once they have heard back from them

15 Days so far for them to tell me that on my $300+ Order

My Order had the following

1) 1- Hk Factory USP Compact 357 SIG Barrel
2) 1- S&W M&P 380EZ Magazine
3) 1- APEX Trigger with FDE safety for S&W SD
4) 1- APEX Trigger Spring Kit for S&W SD

Being its now Friday evening I see no way possible that I will ever get the parts

Just out $313.01

I'm not happy & it is not MGWs fault, It's USPS's Problem

Now I just wait while someone else does what I have already done = Contact USPS, check with neighbors etc. & contact me back

Hopefully they can resolve the situation

Got the spring kit in. Took the trigger from 8+ lbs to about 6. Take to the range tomorrow.

Yep, apex.
Not only is the Galloway Boudica trigger better (IMHO) than the APEX trigger for the SD/SDVE guns, it's almost half the price of an APEX trigger.
I'm not dogging APEX triggers (My 5 M&P's all have an APEX trigger) I'm just stating, IMHO, that the Boudica trigger is a much better choice for the SD/SDVE firearms.
Boudica Short Stroke Trigger for Smith & Wesson SD VE and Sigma VE Pistols > Galloway Precision
Apex Tactical Action Enhancement Trigger S&W SD9 SD40 Polymer Black

I installed an Apex trigger and springs in my SD40. Trigger press felt better, but the reset was too weak for a defensive pistol. Put the original springs back in. A few hundreds round later, the Apex trigger cracked.

Went completely back to factory stock and I think that is the way to go. If this is just a range toy for you, go ahead and play aftermarket with it. Hopefully you have other firearms for self defense that you keep reliable with factory parts.

I bet if you installed a Galloway Boudica trigger in your SD40 you will be pleasantly surprised how much better it works over the factory trigger. ;)

Don't MAKE ME go buy the SD40VE that's up the street @Ruger Nut
Never got my order from MGW, It's been 37 days now
BTW they have a SD9VE & a SD40VE at the LGS CHEAP!

Still haven't gotten the Apex Trigger & Springs from MGW
Ordered on 1/6/22
Here we are 41 days later & still waiting
I would suggest ordering from any place else other than them

Today 2/18/22 my order from MGW finally showed up that was placed on 1/6/22 = 43 Days Later that has the Apex Special Edition Series SD Trigger & Spring Kit + an extra 380EZ Magazine.
Might get around to putting them in later this afternoon
I will give my unbiased review of the Apex trigger & springs then

Did you order the APEX spring kits before I suggested the Wesbaun kit?
I took my SD9 to my backyard range at my dads house (42 acres). I love the way it shoots! So smooth and crisp! ;)

I had the springs but finally got the Apex Trigger today
Have been putting it in & have the slide done & took a break for dinner @ 9:00pm, I have the trigger housing out but haven't removed the trigger yet, It's Very Glock Like in that aspect
Will let you know later if I had to file the back of the trigger to give it some overtravel & give my unbiased results of their kit

Ruger Nut,

He blew you off, and went Apex. You got lucky
with Galloway. Their products are known to
destroy SD9VE frames. I wouldn't buy anything
from them.
