Brinks 4046: I really, really didn't need it, but I bought it.

Me too LOL

I should have mine on Monday. Did not need it because I have a mint 4046 with box and papers but I love these 3RD-Gens. I will be in the market for a front sight because the one I won had the night sights and the front lamp it damaged in the sight.

Out of curiosity, can you swap in a 9mm barrel on these? I want one, but I don't have anything in 40 S&W, but I do have plenty of 9mm ammo.

On the 4046TSW models, a 9mm TSW barrel can be swapped in and the 4046TSW will probably run fine on 9mm, even with the 40 breach face, extractor, and magazine.

On the 4046 base model, there are no 9mm barrels that will work without modifications.

Can you elaborate on why this is the case? What is different with the TSW models? If this the case with all .40 TSW guns (4013TSW, 4006TSW etc.)?

Simply put, full size base model (NON TSW) 9mm and 40s&w pistols use different sized barrel bushings.

Full size TSW models use the same size barrel bushings for 9mm and 40s&w pistols.

There is also a difference in the angles of the barrel camming lugs.

Old dog learning new trick

I think I finally figured out how to post a photo. Here is my new to me Brinks 4046. It looks a lot better than I thought it would be after getting into the game late .

Here’s my brinks 4046 289 special off gb…

Tear down, sandblast parts, polish internals, new spring upgrade kit from Wolff, 745 mag catch, extended slide stop, sig Romeo and some beautiful front slide serrations from guzz! (S7)

life's garden poem

I'm guessing that's a dovetail mount? I assumed it was impossible to mill these slides since there's a bunch of hardware tucked under the rear sight.

Love the serrations!

My 4516-1 you just have to find the right adapter plate to put in the dovetail.
And if you're really not sure about mounting the adapter plate correctly yourself, seek out one of the gunsmith artists on the forum..
Seriously I thought I could do it and turned my gun and adapter plate into an abortion.
I had to have it shipped out to BMCM customs and he fixed it beautifully.
