Ughhh!! I hate the heat!!

It was 95 degrees in the shade this morning, and I'm not in the shade when I take care of my horse or tend to my fruit trees. I needed to tinker with one of my cars, but it was too hot to leave the air conditioned house. My Northern European ancestry does not do well in this heat. I feel sorry for one of my friends. His wife wants to leave California for Texas, and she told him that it doesn't get hot in Texas. They are going to Texas in July to look at real estate. Should I tell him to bring a sweater for the cold Texas weather in July?

Friend, there ain't no place in Texas that isn't hotter than the hinges of he%% in July.

The coastal bend is probably the coolest. It is humid, but always has a coastal breeze the cools things down a bit compared to the interior. Here in central Texas we have been hitting triple digits most days this month. It is worse in the big cities. We live outside the city more in the hills and higher elevation. :D

Ohio Valley was a sauna last week but it's perfect right now - mid 50s night, mid 80s day. Won't last but am sure enjoying it - yeah right - I'm killing time before a 9am dental appointment to replace a broken tooth.

Yeah, I'm sweaty and uncomfortable when it ticks up into the 90's. That said, it wasn't that long ago when it was down below freezing, the Toro was blowing snow back in my face, looked like Nanook of the North when I was done plowing, and cars were slipping and sliding all over the road. Given the choice, I'd rather sweat. The only thing I liked about Vietnam was no winter.

Two -bit-cowboy , your post is enough to make me sick ! We won't see those temp's until Oct or Nov.

I hear you Mule Packer . I will be sweating like there's no tomorrow and Sharon will be as cool as a cuke . She will work outside from after lunch until 3-4:00 , hottest part of the day .

On another note , I was born here . When I was a kid , we had no a/c , just box fans in the window . But then it rained EVERY afternoon , you could set your watch by it . But with age comes an intolerance for heat , at least for me .

I never understood how heat seemingly doesn't affect some people. I am in the same boat as you and pass on chores outside if it is around those temps.

Have you considered a project to tinker with indoors--make holsters, leatherwork, knapping, cribbage boards or other items from elk horn, Texas mounts, wood working or just about anything you could do at your shop in the AC? :)

We decided to leave Texas and spend the summer in the RV in Michigan. We picked a good year. It's 69 right now but it's gonna be 84 (*gasp*) for an hour or two later today. The next week is highs in the mid 70's every day. Mostly low 60's at night. We're on the coast of Lake Huron and the on-shore breeze is like a gigantic swamp cooler.

Of course, you don't want to be around here in the winter.....

Extreme cold does not worry me as much as the thought of losing AC during an oppressive heat wave. I would have to sleep in a motel as staying at home would be perilous.
That's what we did when the AC went out a few years back.
Of course, it had to happen when we had company from out of town.

I'm no fan of the heat but as long as the humidity is below 65% I can deal. Nothing worse than 90% - 95% on a very hot day. Those are my inside days! Any outside work that needs to get done that day gets done early in the morning - mostly washing my car. After I dry it I'll pull it in my air conditioned garage to finish up the Detail. Not only is high humidity gross, it does not play well with some car detailing products.
