I tried to resist….
Really, I did.
As I've accumulated a few guns over the last year, or so, I've told myself that I would be disciplined, and only buy guns in .44cal. I didn't want guns of too many calibers in the safe, cuz that would just mean more different kinds of ammo, more reloading stuff, etc. I'm sure y'all know what I mean.
But then a gun comes along that makes that plan change…
This gun did that for me.
It's a 3-1/2" pre-27 that Roy says shipped in 1953. I dunno why, but this gun just called to me. I really like it!! Maybe it's because it's so similar to the pre-24 4" gun I have, which I feel the same way about.
Any of you know this feeling? Yeah, I know…..
A couple of pictures for you. The pre-24 made an appearance too!

Crazy how that happens. Some guns speak to me too. 3 1/2 is from 1968. 4 inch is from 1980. Usually I've told myself I want to focus on K frames. An N frame calls my name. You have two nice ones. Hope you enjoy them like I enjoy this pair.

Any of you know this feeling?

That is about as fine as it gets... .357 Magnum, 3.5" barrel, proud front sight pins, blue, correct diamond magnas. It is just about perfect.:D

Do I know the feeling? Why yes, yes I do (especially with the 3.5" .357 Magnum).:)

Congrats and thanks for sharing!

Yes, I wanted to ask about the sight pins.
This gun does have two proud sight pins at the front sight, as does my 4" pre-24. However, I've seen other pre-27s and pre-24s that had flush front sight pins. Was there a time the factory just switched everything to flush, or could a gun be ordered either way?

Those are a couple of very nice revolvers! When I started to accumulate my modest collection of firearms, I also tried to limit my collecting to vintage .357 Magnum and .44 Magnum S&W revolvers. However, it wasn't long before I was adding .22 LR, .38 Spl., .32-20, .45 ACP...yada yada yada. I do still prefer the large N-frame revolvers and they make up the lion's share of my handguns. I haven't acquired a 3-1/2" .357 Magnum like yours yet, but I do have some 3-1/2" Model 27-2s. Enjoy!

I understand and you have acquired a beautiful example.
His younger brother did the very same thing to me several years ago.
Enjoy and congratulations.
Jake

I have a few N frame 357s, and several K frames too. I do not have one with a 3-1/2" barrel, so If one popped up at a price that made sense, I would be sorely tempted.

IIRC the "proud " fs pins are found on some models mostly made around 1952-53,
