I have used a limited supply of their ammo in the past with good results . Has anyone tried their primers ?

Aguilla makes quality ammo, I'd think their primers would be good to go…

If they're designed to Remington 1 1/2 primer specs (I recall that Remington established the Aguila factory decades ago), I wouldn't use them in anything other than standard velocity loads…they have a tendency to pierce when CCI and Fed do not…even with 38 Spl +P book loads.

I bought some of those Aguilla primers from Midway, loaded up some 9MM cast lead with Unique, they worked good. Also loaded some .38 Special cast lead, same positive results. I'd buy more, but am holding out to see if Winchester or Federal primers become available.

Powder Valley has SPP's from Spain and they have SPM from federal . The ones from Spain $79.95 / K , the federal are $120/K . Regards Paul

I haven't checked in a while, but Powder Valley (my favorite for many years ) had a 1,000 limit on primers a few months ago; pretty expensive when you consider haz. fee not to mention shipping unless you're also buying powder on the same order.

That policy may have changed as primers have become more available. Perhaps you can now buy a carton of 5,000 making for a much better deal.

Correction : Made in Argentina . I just entered an order for 5K and it accepted it w/o the limit . Just a trial order . Regards Paul

Yesterday @ the Prattville AL, BP: 1-K SPP Remington, $90.00+
tax. Said no thank you and walked away.

Way to go Skillet...I refuse to pay that BS too.. I'm holding out until I'm flat on my *** for primers, and I have a ways to go. Obviously, I'm old school and I feel like if enough folks hold out for realistic prices, the prices will come down where they belong. What happend to my Tula primers anyway ?? I really liked their LPP. I think I heard the "Gov't" worked up some kind of ban on some imported ammo/components ...

It is a mystery to me why foreign primer manufacturers didn't jump into the US market long ago.

I recently bought 5k Ginex SP primers. They're from Bosnia. I haven't loaded any yet, but from what I've read they work just fine. I paid $400 for the case ($80/1,000).

I don't "need" primers right now, but I do like to keep pace with my consumption so that I maintain my end-of-days supply/stockpile. I remember not wanting to pay $25/1,000 because they used to be $20/1,000. And I remember not wanting to pay $30/1,000 because they used to be $25/1,000. And then I didn't want to pay $35/1,000 because they used to be $30/1,000. Well, you guys get the idea. For folks older than me, I'm sure you remember paying $15, or even $10/1,000….

Do I think primers will come down some more, maybe a little, but maybe not. As always, some places will charge more than others, but it'll remain much, much higher than pre 2020.

What we've recently gone through was very unusual shortages, with very, very inflated prices. Those extreme prices for guns, ammo, and components have come down, and I believe are back to the new "normal," or very close. But we also have very high inflation going on, and that's not going to change. Everything is going to continue to increase in price. Over time, ammo and components have NEVER gotten cheaper. We also have consolidation in manufacturers, and that always increases prices, as well.

Long story short, get used to the new normal, or stop shooting, but we'll never see $30/$35 for 1k primers again, or $17 for a pound of powder either….

There is an embargo on anything from Russia including ammo, reloading components and even metals like Scandium and Rhodium.

The Scandium shortage is causing S&W Airlite revolvers to price up and the Rhodium shortage is causing car prices to jump up because that is needed for Catalytic converters. The only meaningful source is Russia for both with a price of up to $30,000 oz. for Rhodium. (up from $2,000 oz.)

I did go ahead and order the Aguila SPP from Midway ...a max limit of 1000 . I had to pay a hazmat fee but was able to get free shipping. Not inexpensive but I can still reload .45ACP and .38 Special for less than .25 cents per round using my own brass . That's still less than 1/2 what I would pay for either of these rounds.

I tried to order those Friday evening but were sold out. However I had an email from Powder Valley and they had some Argentine made small pistol primers and please don't ask me to spell the name. I am not out of SPP but am exploring other manufacturers as alternatives. So I bought a 1000 for a trial.
At some point in the future I will report on if they pop and make a boom.

As of Saturday morning the 29th Powder Valley stills has Argentinian primers at $80/thousand.

Not great, but my guess (which is as good as anyone else's) is we won't ever see primers below $65-70 per thousand any time in the next couple of years, if ever. And that contingent on some political changes that cannot be discussed here.

Hazmat & shipping factored in, the casual "I'll pick up a couple of thousand primers" buyers will have to hold out until the big stores are getting bulk deals and running sales where you can buy locally. Again, personally don't see that happening any time soon. Those who refuse to pay those prices will eventually cave or continue to do without as far as I can see. Welcome to the future . . . . :(

My long time hunting buddy deals with a commercial reloader in his hometown. This guy tells my buddy that he does not ever expect to see primers below 60 bucks a thousand. I do not know where this dealer gets primers or how big his stock is but he loads and sells every day by the hundreds to thousands of rounds.

I walked into a LGS yesterday and he has a nice stock of CCI primers in SP , SPM , SR and SRM . The regular primers $100 / K , the magnum primers were $110 / K . Does that sound high ? Well lets remember that you won't be paying Hazmat and shipping fees , just sales tax . I don't need any but , considering the current economics / situations world wide he's about right on the price . I really don't expect to see primers at levels of several yrs ago , powder too . I doubt we will ever see .29ct gasoline ever again either . Regards Paul
