A Thoughtful Article on Climate Change

From the environment audience, it's "interesting" to witness so many records being smashed, simultaneously and repeatedly.
Seeing barge navigation limited on every major river of commerce, and the worldwide throttling of thermal and hydro power stations due to low water conditions, is unique.

Any y'all on the Mighty Mississippi seen it this low before?

Even Canada, our hydro powered neighbors, are dealing with a historically low St. Lawrence Seaway.
Whoda thunk?

The changing environment was a major consideration in our choice of retirement location. Won't control it in my lifetime, but will avoid fighting it in the little time I've got left.

Actually, I have seen the Mississippi River at comparable lows before. Back in the late 1980's, it was close to the low it is at now. That is in Memphis. Not sure about other places. Back in the 80's, I had to cross it every work day two times.

It's rather hard to game the hard sciences like physics, chemistry and so on. However, when you get into the "fuzzy" sciences like weather forecasting (and climatology or whatever it's called) that's not true. Decades ago I was appalled at the shlock I saw published in what were allegedly "peer reviewed scientific journals" of established fields like psychology. They may have been journals, but boy, did the science and statistics take a licking.

My thesis advisor had to explain academic politics to me. First, in many cases there was the "publish or perish" thing if you wanted tenure or to stay where you were. Then there was the really important stuff like your rep in your specialty, becoming department head, maybe getting an endowed "chair" at some prestigious place, and somewhere in there maybe becoming an advisor to some politico and getting REAL power.

As a result, unless someone with an impeccable rep in the field read your stuff and threw the BS flag, the attitude in a lot of "scientific" work resembles the 3 monkeys who saw, heard and spoke no evil.

NO, I haven't seen the signs and wonders of today compared to yesteryears. Not being 2000+ years old has its limitations. :p;)
The late Dick Smith, master Hollywood makeup artist, could probably have made you look 2000 y.o. though.
Did a pretty convincing job on Dustin Hoffman for a mere 121.

That pic was taken from an obit I found when looking for the Hoffman pic. The guy was amazing. I'm going to make a new thread on The Lounge for this :)

Climate Change is really all about changing money from the working class to freeloaders.

ttps://www.independentsentinel.com/us-middle-class-to-pay-climate-reparations-worldwide/

FTA:

As Americans suffer from inflation and a war no one should want, unelected climate dignitaries and world leaders head for the Egyptian resort town of Sharm-El-Sheikh in mid November for COP27. They will fly in their gas-guzzling private jets to solve the "climate crisis." They will do it on the backs of the US and EU middle class.

The World Economic Forum, the fascistic and globalist Big Business alliance behind the Great Reset agenda, is publicly arguing that "climate reparations" must be "top of the agenda at COP27."

The questions to be resolved at COP27 are focused on how much money governments must extract from the struggling middle classes of the "developed" world to bribe "developing country" governments and kleptocrats. "Climate" is the new Covid. Freedom is in danger.

The World dictatorships are demanding reparations in the trillions of dollars for floods, droughts, rain, snow, anything they can falsely blame on so-called rich nations.

"By 2050, the economic cost of loss and damage in developing countries is estimated to be between $1-1.8 trillion," WEF "expert" and propagandist Abhinav Chugh wrote on the increasingly controversial organization's website. He grabbed that figure out of his magic hat. There is no proof tying all this together, but COP27 will pretend there is.

THE GREEDY DEMANDS OF AUTHORITARIANS
A group of largely corrupt governments styling itself the "Alliance of Small Island States" (AOSIS) is demanding that taxpayers in wealthier countries hand over huge sums for a "response fund" that will help "climate victims recover from the loss and damage caused by present and future climate shocks," according to the WEF.

This "Alliance" will be backed by the largest group of governments and dictatorships within the UN system. Known as the G77 + China, the alliance represents about two thirds of the UN's member governments. And it is openly seeking to turn the UN into an "emblem of global sovereignty."

COP27's goal is to put the UN in charge of the world, period...

The Russians and the Chinese are probably sitting back with bags of popcorn watching the West bankrupt themselves worrying about climate change. Then when we do bankrupt ourselves, they will be free to dominate the globe, and maybe then they'll start thinking about cutting emissions themselves, but in the mean time, the West bankrupting themselves is the more important issue to them, and they'll encourage and support the Wests's hysteria any way they can.

If you look at many of these, the earth is dying groups, you will see no mention of the marionettist.

The IPCC , whoever they are, says man made global whatever is fact so we must follow them. Big chuckle on that one. ;) :D

It truly is astonishing to see people denying that we humans bear any responsibility for what is happening to our planet. We are the only creatures on Earth that foul our nest and then deny we've done it.

Those left-wing wackos at NASA -- ;) -- have an entire website devoted to explaining climate change. For those who don't want to take the time to read it, here are the takeaways from the Evidence page on the site...

"While Earth's climate has changed throughout its history, the current warming is happening at a rate not seen in the past 10,000 years.

According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), "Since systematic scientific assessments began in the 1970s, the influence of human activity on the warming of the climate system has evolved from theory to established fact."

Scientific information taken from natural sources (such as ice cores, rocks, and tree rings) and from modern equipment (like satellites and instruments) all show the signs of a changing climate.

From global temperature rise to melting ice sheets, the evidence of a warming planet abounds."

Home – Climate Change: Vital Signs of the Planet

You left out the temp. degree rise.......Something like 1-2 degrees every century or so........It could go the other way too.

" When in trouble
When in doubt
Run in circles
Scream and shout "

Laugh at me - I'm a fool. I believe in something that says there is a plan, not of our making. A plan that will come to fruition. From a Planner that cannot fail. It is the height of arrogance and hubris to believe I can change or thwart that plan or delay its implementation or alter its' course one wit.

Call me a fool. Call me a denier. Call me superstitious. Call me uneducated. Matters not to me.

As the old saying goes, "He who laughs last . . . . . " ;)

The name had to be changed from "Global Warming" to Climate Change because the Earths temperature went down .2 degrees. I still don't see how giving money to the Government will change anything.

It's global warming - the global average temperature has been rising since at least 1880. Global Temperature | Vital Signs – Climate Change: Vital Signs of the Planet One reason they say 'climate change' is too many can't fathom that 'climate' is different from 'weather,' and are confused when it snows.
