Which slide could I use on a 4046 to add a "safety?"

So I've got a very nice Brinks surplus 4046 DAO. Shoots just fine, but I'll probably never carry it. (If I wanted to carry something that heavy I'd break out my 4006 TSW CHP.)

But I'm curious and wondering which model slide I could put atop the 4046 frame to add a safety in addition to the heavier DAO trigger. I believe that TSW/Tactical slides won't work (right?) so would a plain jane 4006 slide work?

I carry with complete confidence a 6946 and as much confidence a franken-smith a 3953 frame topped with a (spare) 3906 slide with gives the "belt & suspenders" of a DAO and a manual safety.

Anyone have any suggestions? (And sure, I could just buy a nice plain 4006 and I'd have what I want, but I'm just wonder'en.)

Other than the TSW models, all of the S&W DAO, non-second strike capable models have an extended slide and frame at the rear, and none are capable of accepting a manual safety body.

That being said, a TDA (da/sa) 4006/4003 slide should fit and function on your 4046, but will be a little short in the rear.

If you actually have a 3953 with a 3906 slide, you will know about that which I write.
