Concealing big guns - how?

Jack what make is the holster,I really like it.
Galco Silhouette High Ride
Silhouette High Ride Belt Holster

ETA:
As seen in pic, mine has S&W logo stamped on front. I think they were for some Lew Horton guns that Smith did???
It's a hi-ride and if much of a barrel sticking out, reminds me of a slide holster w/ thumb brake.

IIRC, Ive seen them but does yours have the S&W logo?
ETA:
Is muzzle fully covered?
No logo on mine, just the Galco brand on the back...I believe you are correct on the Lew Horton connection...Mine would cover a 2.5" muzzle, but about an inch of my 3.5" .38-44 is exposed...Still it rides high and tight as I like it...I prefer an open top, but configured this way with a heavy N frame, I see the need for the retention strap...It's still my favorite carry holster for this gun......Ben

3" 629

When I carry my 629 I use this El Paso Saddlery #88 and it conceals fine and rides right. Note the leading edge of the cylinder is at center of the belt slots and waist line, as R.E.D. Nichols noted, for good balance. The Galco models shown are good too, but carry a little higher and may not feel right for some people. Everyone is built differently and sometimes its a matter of testing different holsters to get the right combination of comfort, retention and concealment.

My first Smith was a 4" 629,, it was my main gun for 20 years.
I am 6'7" , 245 pounds, and I never figured out how to carry the 629.

One day, a guy was trying to sell a 10MM Gold Cup, Delta at a LGS.
I followed him out, and I ended up buying the Gold Cup for $300, including dies, bullets, brass and powder,,
Basically everything. The guy hated the gun, and wanted rid of it.

When I shot the gun, I discovered the magic of the 10MM,,
THAT is when I discovered the reason for the 1911. That gun is easy to carry, and is as close to the power of a S&W N frame as necessary.

If I wanted to carry a gun with the power of an N Frame, I would simply carry a 10MM 1911, .

It has been stated the late John Ross had a short barreled X-frame chambered in .500 custom made for his concealed carry. Have none of the details, but carrying such a massive revolver at 55 oz in itself supports other large frames may be implementable. I assume it would have to be factory special ammo.

In addition to the mentioned drawbacks, there might be additional inertial wear on parts from everyday movements (i.e., center pin, yoke, cylinder stop, etc) as well as ruining clothes, or fitting in the car and furniture.

Sorry about the pic location but it is the only one I have. I went from 201# down to 170 to accommodate the CZ P07. An XL shirt over and instant "homeless chic" fashion. Been working for 40 years. Joe

I got a chuckle out of your photo! :D You could have accomplished two things at the same time - multi-tasking as my daughter always says!

Not bad, you lost 31 pounds and only gained 2.

BTW, as a right handed person I always carry my Spyderco on my left (weak) side. This way when you go for the knife (multiple times a day) you need not expose Roscoe by accident. After a while your muscle memory kicks in and knife deployment becomes easy and natural (and my weak hand penmanship is horrible - just to emphasize weak hand).

Great photo from an even greater location. I think you left some toilet paper in your back pocket. :D:D

A Don Hume pancake works well. I have concealed a number of N-frames using that rig.

The key is a good cover garment.

With a good belt, a pancake/IWB holster, & a Hawaiian shirt, & I can conceal a 4" K-frame or a 5" M&P9 2.0. I'm 5'8" & weigh 170 lbs.

Sent with some arcane communications device.

My "usual" is a 640-1 Pro in a Lobo Enhance Pancake at 4 o'clock.

Last year I decided I might on occasion want a bit more capacity.

I picked up a Performance Center 627 snubbie and had Rob Leahy build a lined Simply Rugged Sourdough Pancake™ for it.

Although Rob's rig allows for a 4 o'clock carry, that 8-round cylinder won't bend around my hip the way the J-frame does so I wear it at 2 o'clock, muzzle forward. I always wear a vest, and it covers that N-frame with no printing or exposure -- fully concealed -- even with the slightly rounded Herrett's Jordan Troopers.

Rob made 1¾" loops, and his rig rides securely on a 1¾" Milt Sparks lined belt -- the true "key to comfort."

Due to your stated "dimensions," I must add that I'm 6'4" and about 250 lbs. so my wingspan and long upper torso allow me to pack the weight and present the 627 with ease.

For the BBQ's I ain't too hard to look at, either.

I sometimes carry an " off brand" 3 inch .44Spl in a simply rugged sourdough pancake. I use perry suspenders which hook to the belt to spread the weight around. Just got a red pair for Christmas seasonal wear..

Most of the response do not seem to address "a large handgun"...anyone carrying concealed will use anything under 5", which can easily be concealed with any type of holster for the purpose...too me a large handgun is a hand cannon like a 6.5" revolver. Personally I think it is impossible to conceal a gun this dimension. For the hell of it I bought a old under arm dirty harry holster for my N-frame and there is absolutely no way you can keep it totally hidden as to its nature, no matter what you wear & forget about waist holsters. In the movies they show ol' Harry using one neatly tucked away in his sport jacket but that is "the movies"
