On November 18 voters in Oregon passed Measure 114, which effectively bans all firearms sales in Oregon. This measure mandates that firearms purchasers have a permit to purchase. The measure takes effect on December 8. There is no administrative arrangement in place to issue these permits, and they are a "may issue" arrangement. If allowed to stand this would effectively ban gun sales in Oregon effective December 8.

Various entities, including an Oregon Sheriff, have filed a federal appeal which is scheduled for December 2. In the light of Bruen it seems highly likely that the appeal will be upheld and the state will be enjoined from enforcing Measure 114, which also bans "high capacity" magazines.

As of a couple of days ago the list of people in Oregon waiting for their background check was so long that they were guessing weeks or longer to clear it.

They'll have plenty of time to clear because come Dec 8th, nobody will be able to purchase any kind of firearm in Oregon.

This would have to be about the only constitutional right you would need to buy a permit to enjoy. Other states get away with it though.

It won't hold up in the Supreme Court, and they know it. But that doesn't really matter to them because by the time it is heard and reversed, they will have put gun stores of of business.

My buddy is gonna try and stay open selling ammo, 10 rd. mags and cleaning kits. I wish him luck.

Reason # 279 to leave this precipitously declining state. And to think I used to invite friends from back east here and brag. Now when I tell anyone I live in Portland they're as likely to say, "oh, I'm sorry."

If you've ever wondered what it would look like if the wokesters got everything they wanted, just have a look at the paradise they created in Portland in a mere 3 years time.

Come to Portland---live in a tent on the sidewalk, doo doo in the street, get free needles to use your legal meth or heroin, and now magic mushrooms, get free health care, steal whatever you need because there are no public defenders and 90% of cases are tossed out, but by golly you better not own an 11 round magazine or they will be coming for you.

Born and raised here nearly 60 years ago---just makes me bow my eyes and shake my head with disgust.

The only way I am still able to hang around here was by moving out in the sticks 25 years ago. Now I only pass through the ghetto when I need to get to the other side a few times per year.

Same with me and Seattle. Things started going downhill about the time people from California flooded in, especially the Eastside, first at Microsoft.

I assume this measure is an imposition from the coastal urban areas on the "inlanders"? I have travelled a lot on business, but only made it to Oregon a few times.
