Recently, I made the decision to sell pieces of the collection only through FFL's. Mostly consignment, but also meeting at an FFL if need be.
Now before any of you feel the need to "school me", just understand it's my choice; and yes, I know it's not necessary. That said, it quickly became necessary to post this update at the end of my ad:

I am willing to drive to your FFL in metro Phx, within
reason, for the transfer. No exceptions.

In other words....
We will meet at a licensed gun dealer
You will fill out the Federal 4473 form
You will pay the dealer's fee for the transfer
You may be subject to background check (unless ccw)
If all goes well, THEN we exchange cash-for-gun

IF you're not an Az resident..
IF you just moved to Az less than 6mos ago...
IF you have no Gov't-issued I/D w/current address...
IF you're not a citizen, or LPR
IF you know you can't/won't pass a check
IF you think you can get me to change my terms

DO NOT CONTACT ME ABOUT THIS AD~~~

In spite of this, I will get offers above my asking price, "IF...blah, blah"
and negative comments. Check out this doozy I got earlier today.....

Bro,
In spite of the LAST ITEM in my ad:

IF you think you can get me to change my terms

DO NOT CONTACT ME ABOUT THIS AD~~~

...you've seen fit to chastise me anyway, I am going to be so bold as to ask.
What business is it of your's how I choose to sell my item?
Are you chapped because you can't get a good deal ON-PAPER?

Seriously, I've already blocked TWO folks offering me FAR MORE than my
asking price for a "handshake", BOS, or whatever.

Anxiously awaiting your reply.........

Your gun, sell it as you please…….I would not bother with your ad regardless if the gun was my holy grail. Maybe there are buyers who will play by your rules…..and if so that is great. But then there are those of us that simply wouldn’t bother.

Since I've always lived in a state where you have to go through an FFL, it doesn't bother me. Knowing that the buyer is vetted by the FBI does give a warm and fuzzy feeling.

I get it. Your gun sale, your rules in accordance with the law.

Just skip responding to any of the bogus offers.

I had a guy ask what the cash discount is for an Armslist transaction...does he really think I take checks from strangers in a Cabelas parking lot?

I don't mind going through an FFL, most of my guns are through an FFL. I wouldn't respond to your ad. I just don't like the attitude of it. I don't know you and I'll assume you're a great guy but the general tone of such an ad would lead me to believe the seller was a body part. I've already spent more than my share of time with body part people when still working. I now choose to avoid such contact when it's an elective.

I'm sorry I couldn't write this post in a kinder and more gently manner but at the moment I don't know how to word it that way. Maybe I'll edit later.

But anyhow, I hope you sell your gun at the target price and without issues.

Why would a FFL Dealer do a 4473 when they are not the seller?

I have sold guns as well. My ads always said need FFL, all legal rules apply, etc. I have also had people willing to spend above the asking price to circumvent the law.

I never sold a gun without an FFL, a NICS and a 4473.

Personally, I think that although some of the potential buyers might have been felons, I also think that some of them have been BATF just looking for bad people.

If you want to sell your guns through an FFL that's fine.

What drives me nuts is the people who add a bunch of extra-legal specifications like a photocopy of my driver's license.

Oh yes. I've seen people on this and many other boards state that they would happily sell face to face. Just show them a copy of your driver's license and your carry permit.

Why the carry permit? There's several million people in the state of Florida, and maybe 10% of them have a permit to carry. So you're blocking out 90% of your customer base. It makes no sense.

Why would a FFL Dealer do a 4473 when they are not the seller?

Mine does it for $25 plus the background check. Some places charge more. Pays the bills.

Its the law here. I used to buy and sell guns on Facebook when they allowed it. I’d insist on meeting at an FFL and many buyers would balk and want to do a parking lot sale. No dice.
