I know some you scoff at the media idea, but it seems too often that it is the only way to get anything done. Corporate management has the "deny everything" attitude, as do most legislatures. It all goes hand in hand with "admit nothing" handed down by insurers.

Get an ambitious cub TV reporter on the case, turn them loose and embarrass the hell out of these idiots. We have a gal on Channel 13 here in Vegas who should go by the nickname "Wooden Spoon" for the way she stirs it up, but she gets results.

You're most likely right. However, I think the bit about carrying out being in state law as told to the OP was pulled directly out of thin air. Want to intimidate someone? Say it's the law and hope they don't check.

I like the bags. At $ .10/ea., they are cheaper than buying equivalent sized plastic bags to hold used cat litter till I throw it in the trash can. And ... up to a point, I like having a goodly bunch of them at hand in the pantry for odd items that need to carried hither or yon beyond the house.

Now, if it boils down to carrying groceries, I really really like paper bags!!! Takes me back to the days of my youth, when I worked at the Piggly Wiggly bagging groceries ... and then carrying the bags out to ladies cars. Tips in a day could easily amount to $15 or even $20 a shift. That was actually more than the hourly wage. Really like those paper sacks. They even work for used cat litter! Sincerely. bruce.

Completely agree. But when you’re proven wrong, once, virally, you’re out of the public eye and trying to sell used Buicks to make a living . . .

We all want a happy ending to this story.

The store has a minimum fee for using the pickup service. I had other items that were too big to bag but kept me over the minimum. The bagged items were what I call fillers. Nothing that I needed at that time but maybe down the road. I find it easier to get things that I use even though I don't "need" them at that time rather than need something and it's not available. Remember the fiasco trying to get toilet paper?

We have TABOR here in Colorado which means taxes can't be raised before a vote by the citizenry. To get around this law we now have fees constantly imposed on us.

Local TV news frequently does stories on things that might concern all of us.

I've said it before, but I think the reusable bags are more convenient and we have dozens f them.

King Soopers has these heavy duty bags that they use for pickup service. That's what I use. Clearly more durable than what Safeway offers and for the same price.

I just picked up an order this afternoon. I saw a couple customers loading up their cars with enough groceries to feed a family of six and not one bag was used. Apparently I'm not the only person who you would call petty. Some of them even used cardboard boxes.

The wife and I have a dozen or more reusable carry bags from various sources, like home shows or horse show vendors who hand them out for free advertising. I keep four of them in the truck, and only use the plactic grocery bags for items that might leak. It's not a huge concession, but nobody likes being forced...even if it is for the best. I have more important issues to deal with.

I have plenty of reusable bags, If i could only remember to bring them with me.. especially if i'm running out for just a few things,,, usually leave them next to the shopping list on the chair in the kitchen

I note the 2 supermarkets I usually go here in Central NJ have eliminated handbaskets in favor of smaller carts.
In warmer weather I carry a medium to large cooler, with a freeze pack/freeze bottle for milk and other items that should be chilled.

I've gotten wound up over less. Not proud of it and I really try to let stuff go at my age but sometimes the monkey in me goes off and starts throwing feces indiscriminately. At that point there is no reasoning, it is best to just back away carefully and let it wear itself out.
