I usually don't have to worry about it but we are baby sitting my daughters two dogs.
Her new one year old is a little short in the leg department, so
I need to do the back yard that has a doggie door access,
so "Snow balls" don't get tracked back and fort into the house,
or at least kept to a minimum.

Third snow fall in four days.
The hills around us should be at 170% with this nice storm, that just went through.

Kelly and her boy friend are taking the Reno train, out of town and to Truckee Calif, over the Sierra mountain pass, down into Sacramento, for a "Fun Package" trip.
With highway 80 going to "Sac" being closed due to snow, this might be an interesting trip? !

I heard it really has dumped on your area. Shoveling the backyard is not something I've had to do, but that is very kind of you as short dog caretaker.

Much of our area was spared the snowfall that was pushed up to the north of us. I just bought a new heavy duty 27" snowblower, so it may not snow on us the rest of the season.

At my age, I might be looking onto a blower next year.

I do know as soon as I had finished the back yard paths and walk ways,
mama, let the dogs out to inspect my work and now there is, "Yellow snow" every where !!

I shoveled apartment complex sidewalks for 40+ years. My observation is: The more prepared you are to deal with a snowfall, the more likely it is to go someplace else! We bought a calcium based 'Snow Melt" for the sidewalks, two to four tons at a time. In the spring when the last bag was used up, Then we got a surprise Ice Storm!

Now All I shovel is my front and back steps and right in front of the garage. maybe 20-25 minutes compared to 6 to 8 hours when I was "In duh bidness!"

My observation is: The more prepared you are to deal with a snowfall, the more likely it is to go someplace else!

A few years ago I bought a massive snow blower, equipped with heated handles, an overcab and chains. The "blizzard" package. It came with a money back guarantee.

If we got leas than XX" of snow I would get a full refund.

That year we got XX + 1".

Up here having a dog lane is a necessity, and the yellow snow gets closer to the door in direct correlation to the temp dropping. Today just finished up the re drifting from 2 days ago (needed a day of rest). When younger took pride in ability to shovel 2 properties including driveways. And that won't be the last stupid thing i took pride in. Get old=leaf blower and snow blowers.

Snow trips

I have ridden the Southern Pacific train from Bay area to Reno in the President's Car. Great trip but there is definitely a lot of snow up there and even railroads aren't immune to snow blockage.

Speaking of snow up near Tahoe has anyone seen news of how Jeremy Renner is doing? He seems to have been a guy with lots of money and very little training on running his machine!

Snow coming tonite, have little on the ground. So far, not much, it is mostly going around us. Normal used to be around five feet, not for a few years now. Don't eat yellow snow!

Riding the train from Sacramento to Reno during the winter is spectacular, especially with a heavy snowpack.

My buddy lives on Jeremy’s road. Recovery is progressing well. Never heard about the amount of training or experience he had operating his snow cat; however, accidents happen, that’s why they’re called accidents.
