I walked into a gun show on Saturday morning, really not even thinking I was going to buy anything, but on the 1st aisle I go up, on about the 3rd or 4th table I glanced at.....There they were, vintage S&Ws, reasonably priced for these days. I started to scan the items...oohhh, ahhhh. Wait, what is this....could it really be? I looked at it and almost couldn't put it down. I didn't even want my buddy to touch it until I said yes! Post war, 44HE 3rd model Military. Excellent condition, all numbers match. some wear from what looks like just sitting around or maybe carried in a glove box. The cylinder is a little plum, but has almost no ring. I never would even allow myself to think I could find or afford one of these. Probably the most significant Smith that I have ever had.

Post War Transitional? Looks like it came fitted with a Pre War hammer. You did very well on that one.

Yes, they have the long action. They are almost the same as the 1926 3rd model, that was made before the war. These were made 1946-49, and are the same except for the hammer block, S serial number, and matte blue finish. Mine has the logo on the side plate, that many of these don't.
