After a lot of searching and a few failed Gunbroker bids I finally own a 4” Heavy Duty.

This one turned up at Tyler Gunworks in the Panhandle after being purchased from an estate in Shreveport, Louisiana. It’s made it full circle and is 45 minutes from the last owner.

It shipped in June 1952 and a friend tells me that the “circle B” on the frame marks it as being issued to the Boeing Aircraft guard force.

You are really going to to like that HD. Took one mine out shooting this last weekend, first time in about 4-5 years. It's from the 30's and shoots just like it was new.

Put a grip adaptor on yours and you'll enjoy it even more.

Looks great!...I thought the B indicated blued finish...Maybe I'm wrong...There was at least one .38-44 Outdoorsman at the Canton show from a particular estate...I think I cleaned out the rest of the HD's earlier from that collection...:o...Ben

Well done on your HD, I love those guns. There was a very nice 5" transitional on that table at Canton, also. I probably would have bought it, if I hadn't got the 44 Military instead.

Ben, it's that weird etched? B in a circle on the butt, lightly marked. I think I have an HD with it as well and had asked about it a while back, interesting take on it, I had not heard the Boeing angle before...

Here.

I'd love to see the a photo of the circle B being discussed. I really like things related to historic aircraft.

From the OP's pics.......

At least that's one less .44 Military to tempt me...
