Cell Phone Etiquette (another grumpy old man rant)

I was waiting in the exam room and reading a daily paper. When the Doc came in she was shocked to see someone actually reading a paper, paper.

People talk about the "Zombie Apocalypse", without realizing it's already half way there. Most of these idiots just aren't eating people yet... although they closely resemble the "Walking Dead."

I have noticed there are fewer magazines in physicians waiting areas now. I have noticed many waiting are on their phones. Most of them are quiet though.

The problem is people sat there “enduring” the first 2 morons for over 20 minutes. I have been in similar situations and I inform the moron, nobody came hear to listen to them.I ask them to step out of room to finish their conversations. I also make it clear that they really don’t have a choice. I simply refuse to be impacted by someone who didn’t know or worse doesn’t care how obnoxious they are.

The four medical facilities that I frequent have no reading material in their waiting rooms. Everyone has a cellphone with them. They all usually behave.

My 5 grandkids all have cellphones. They all swim with the rest of the salmon and navigate through academia quite nicely.

Those people that sit there and text with the " clicker " function turned on . What is the point of that function other than to annoy others ?

I think medical offices got rid of the magazines during the pandemic.

That pardon the pun appears as a accurate statement. Heck you do not even see local newspapers in the waiting room now unless a patient brings it in and leaves it.

In the past some of the offices had decent but old magazines available except for my dentist. He let the rather young office girls handle that and basically all they would get was junk like people, housekeeping or travel. Very little a average male over 21 would want. Now of course nothing.

At the annual checkup Fri. (clean) the few others in the wait room phones were quiet and I glanced thru copies of Wired, Southern Living and Nat Geo. My forgotten at home cell phone wasn't missed.

Chick at the grocery store, purple and pink hair styled with a weedeater, one side of the head shaved and tattooed up, full sleeve tats, contents of a decent fishing tackle box displayed on her face, wandering around the aisles apparently talking to herself.

I first thought she was on a day pass from the state mental hospital, hoping she didn't have a concealed hatchet or something in her shoulder bag. Then I figured out she was using a Blue Tooth device.

Other peoples' children.

I hate places that try to dictate rules to me. I'm not in the service nor the first grade anymore. Tell me I have to turn off my cell phone, and I'll turn it on just to irritate you.

It's not about rules - it's about courtesy to those around us in public places -someone on their own property, in their own home? - yeah - do as they please. Inflicting their bad attitude, poor manners and boorish bullying personality on those around them simply says, "Hey ! Look at me ! I'm a self centered attention ***** !"
