Over Travel Stops

A while ago I bought several things from the estate of a local gun smith including a tool box with drawers full of parts. One drawer of mostly side plate screws and grip screws had these. I didn't recognize them at first and later figured they were the trigger over travel stops that so many PDs, and other people removed.

If anyone wants one, or two, let me know. I'll put them in a padded envelope and mail them to you. I got the screws too, which have to be worth something.

They are overtravel stops. The screws are the same one for the front of the old style rear sights.

When I went to the post office I was told the padded envelopes I used are considered to be "packages" with much higher postage. I have repackaged in envelopes an they will go out today.

Envelopes with hard parts get caught in the sorting machines and get torn up.

I have some in a few designated target revolvers but would not carry a SD gun with one. Many departments would routinely remove them if new guns were delivered to their department with them in. IMHO, they may make a difference tos ome on the target Range but have no place in a SD gun. I
ve never had any fall out but I have had them loosen up on occasion.

I noticed some of the have slightly checkered surface, probably to help keep them in place.

Serrated side faces up and what I have done is adjust stop fully forward and file stop as needed for trigger overtravel. That way if it loosened it can't block the trigger.

Also, on this Veterans Day, thank you W4 for your service ! For those not familiar with the military, "Retired W4" is a Warrant Officer 4th grade, there are only 5 grades W5 being Rare. A Warrant Officer is usually a former Enlisted man who received a Commission as an Officer, and who is generally considered an "expert" in his field.

The screw can't fall out as long as the side plate is in place. It can loosen, but it can't fall out.
