Why would they screw up the Hodgdons site?

It appears that there is a new "improved" Hodgdons load data format on their site...

To bad it doesn't work!:(

Rats! ( As Charlie Brown used to say...

P.S. From one of the BEST to one that doesn't work...

I just checked it out and it does seem to be working now. You're right though, it's not looking good so far. Unless they change it, it appears as though you can only search one bullet weight and powder combination at a time. They used to give the option of selecting all weights and powders to view them as a list.

Looks like they added a significant amount of data.
Unfortunately, it will take far longer to review it
I.m going to poke and prod it a bit to see if I can get some better service from it

I think the best way to go about it is to just pick a cartridge, leaving everything else blank.
It'll dump everything for that cartridge, leaving it for you to scan.

Further discovery ... print option seems to render as custom PDF in your browser ... making it downloadable.

.223 is a 59 page PDF with just the cartridge selected

Yep. I just tried it and that works. Plus you can choose just cartridge and bullet weight to get data the way I always pulled it.

And they've added an option to print or email the data. (Print option might have been there before.)

Printing used to be impossible. as it is right now, I couldn't ask for better given the PDF approach.

I just checked and the site is down for maintenance. It would seem that Hodgdon also didn't like what their web developers had done to a system that worked sort of ok.

I just used their contact form to tell them that the new site looks nice, but needs to allow for more than one selection at a time for the bullet weight, powder brand, and powder type.

The fact that they used check boxes and not radio buttons suggests that this is just a bug or oversight.

if you think about it, if they make those logical changes, we are a breath away from what would amount to custom reloading manuals.

As the reloading data site stands now, I am not a fan at all. If they make changes to where you can input multiple powders and bullet weights like they had before, then it might be pretty nice though.

I wonder if they were concerned that someone might print out loads for something like Trailboss and 296 (to pick an extreme example) and get them mixed when reloading?

To my dismay, they still carried over the old "cup" data.

Why not test and put everything in psi???

They can't make enough powder to keep up with demand ($$$$) and can't spend the $$$ to make a clean sweep of their products?

Valid ...
One would think this would be a matter of course as a byproduct of quality control.

Nah ... because if you select a cartridge, and nothing else, it'll dump everything they have for that cartridge.
(In fact I recommend doing this for all your desired cartridges. hit the provided print button and save the PDF)
I suspect they wanted a filter list like they had before, but failed to bug squash it.
I really hope that's the case and they hammer it out.

Why not just use the books that have served us well for many, many years? A book is much easier to have on your reloading bench than a confuzzzzer and I don't need to push a key to wake it up!

My first data source is the bullet manufacturer. My second is the powder manufacturer. Everything else is confirmation.
[/brm off]

At least they didn't hire the same Bozos who butchered the Brownells website …
