I got the following email message earlier. What do you folks think, is it legitimate or not? My guess is not, and I wouldn’t open it for the life of me! Also, I continually get emails from Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc. saying that I have been chosen to participate in a loyalty program for free. All I have to do is take a short online survey of 15 questions that should only take me 30 seconds to complete. I can win a Sentry Safe, or Dewalt Tools, or something like that. Again, I wouldn’t answer it if my life depended on it! Surely, I’m not the only one…….I know, I know, don’t call you Shirley!😂 I have it my mind that NOBODY gives anything away for free, and I may miss out on something sometime, but I won’t get scammed!!

I don't get many of those because I never give out my email. Mom used to sign up for all kinds of "free" stuff, 'just pay shipping'. One year we had to get a new CC for her 6 times because of fraudulent charges. Now that her dementia has progressed to the point where she can't remember how to use the computer there have not been any more problems.

You know, he is right

Sorry, but I earnestly disagree. I'm sure it was meant to be funny, but really most elected officials are local and people like YOU elect them. Mayors, city councilmen (and women), county commissioners or supervisors, county judge's . . . they are all your neighbors. I personally know our mayor and every one of the members sitting on our city council as well as our county supervisors. I don't always agree with them but they are good people.

There are a lot of elected officials that are horrible, but not all of them on the ballot are. Just thought I'd defend those who step up and try to do right.

I covered local politics for almost 30 years and there were many folks who were at least TRYING to do the "right thing," whenever they could agree on what that might be.

And there was the occasional jerk, doofus and once in a great while, downright crook. But most were honest. Just MHO.

Click on the senders email address and then click on it again and look at the actual address.

My guess is scam...

My ISP deletes most such emails but the ones that get through go Directly to Trash. After moving a senders emails to trash they shortly all go there directly.
As for junk mail in the mail box, I wish I had a paper eating goat, it would be huge….

I have won:
Tools, vacations, free services, subscriptions, money, gold, land, building materials, appliances, furniture, etc........
From:
Home Depot Department @ XYXDERTYX@#$%HUJ^&*MV.de (lotsa German attacks)
Amazon_winingz_Dept@CFRET$%^NMUTY^&*XQWSM>>>^&.uk (lotsa Brit attacks)
Google_Dept_imagiin_@MYGRTVDW#$%^!*()&&^%&&&RFT.au (lotsa Aussie attacks)

They only ask for: "Subscribe today to receive youure rewards!"

My "blocked senders" folder is full but since they use gibberish email addys no help anyways. If I don't empty 2X/day there are 50 in the morning. Joe

The language about ..."You have to insert your credit card details... is a dead giveaway that it is a non-English speaking author. It was probably the only text they had to create. Grammar errors are a sure giveaway of Phishing. It would be enter your credit card information for validation.

I get them all the time and just delete them. I never open any email that says I get anything for free. The other way to identify them is to look at the actual address the email is from. Most authentic items will have an email associated with the entity those that are not will have addresses that are not easily recognizable as part of the advertised business. The amount of money these idiots steal is really mind boggling though.

I just got one today “welcoming me to my new Car Shield account” …. Except I haven’t signed up for one. Wouldn’t open it and sent it straight to “spam” report.

"If it's too good to be true, it probably is". I always go directly to the website to see if something's legit. Even if it's for something that I might have a direct connection to. $2 for Paramount Plus is likely a scam. I had it for one year (last year) only because it was $25. I cancelled before the year was up so I wasn't charged more than that...

How many of us give our CC#, exp. date, and three digits when ordering something online to be sent to our address?
