This is how you spend 2 hours and ruin $100 grips

I also was under the impression that JM grips were for a N frame round butt.....not L frame...could be wrong on this however.

You made em better!

I believe you made them better. Check out Jerry's website and you see his latest for K,L, N frames with the really "loud" "sight" laser logo and made from Palou(sp?) wood for $90.00 + probably shipping and maybe tax too.

Like others said...............IF you have a round butt, and IF they fit your hand then great you didn't lose anything. If you don't then put em up here on the Forum or Flea Bay for $50 or so...somebody will probably want them for the fit and the wood.

Not to brag, but I can assure you it wouldn't take anywhere near two hours to "ruin" a set of grips. :).

They look good. Maybe they aren't worth as much now, but they aren't ruined

Grips are made to be customized. Here is one of two sets I did back when I was competing,

Here is a set of square butt smooth elk that I adapted to fit an N frame round butt,

See on this set, how they sit proud of the frame? Not any more!

And that is merely the tip of the iceberg. I have also altered whole revolvers to get what I wanted!

As others have stated, they're your grips. They look good. You like them, they fit your hand and that's all that matters.

Don't get yourself all lathered up! They are NOT Jerry's personal grips - just a commercial pair of Hogue grips with his logo on them. It's not like you ruined a one of a kind set of grips. Hey, they still look good and are still serviceable.

That said, in the future it might be prudent to find out what you are altering before hand. In this case, no great harm has been done.

The HUGE logos on the sides of 1911 slides drive me crazy to the point that no way would I buy one. Grip logo's, medallions are ok.

I would have prefered the 'TCB w/ Lightning Bolt' logo.
But that's just me...

They are just plain as mud Walnut grips. Enjoy them if they feel comfortable in your hand.
Otherwise make or buy some others and carry on with life.

Put these on Ebay as the 'Special Incognito Edition' Jerry M' Grips.
One of a Kind.

Much improved.
I remember Springfield tarted up all of their polymer pistols with "GRIP ZONE" lettering on all of their handles. Maybe some needed a clue which end to hang on to.

I'm in the camp that likes them more without the initials---but I have to admit my first thought was that old saying about "Too soon we get old, and too late we get smart!"

I also have to admit I've been guilty of getting old before I got smart every once in a while----not often mind you---just once in a while--very seldom.

You can ask the Boss Lady about that. On second thought, she's pretty busy, and probably wouldn't remember.

I can't decide if the JM was lasered or stamped but either way it looked cheap and tawdry.

Maybe you'll be inspired to teach yourself some simple inlay techniques and inlay something nice.
