I bought the sterling example of a LEO gun that a dealer carried from show to show trying to get someone to adopt it. The gun came with beat up manga grips I added the beautiful green Bill Davis grips. Dr. Jinks advised shipped to a large PD February 1973 . The gun has been neutered to double action only.
This gun is cosmetically challenged but has a smooth trigger pull.

It's not good to judge too much from pictures - but.. that kind of finish wear might indicate that the revolver has been underwater or in a fire.
Underwater is not good but a fire is bad.
For .38 Special, that might not matter much.

So those are Bill Davis grips? I have a set of those in black that have been on my 6" 686 for many years. IIRC I got them as a freeby when I renewed my Police Marksman magazine subscription (long defunct) maybe 35+ years ago. They are a harder material than Pachys. I've always been satisfied with them and they've held up well. They are totally unbranded.

Roy, Roy, Roy, Roy, Roy. Please.

As you know, I sold my place in Pahrump. But if I ever come down to visit you, please don't show that to me. Pee green stocks???

If I ever took that to the range, I'd have to take a granddaughter along and pretend the gun was hers. Ick. :D

I wish I had bought some of the pink ones, maybe you would like them better ?

I've owned pink guns. I've owned purple guns. I've owned new guns. I've owned guns that showed some wear. I've even owned a couple of guns that showed downright neglect. I wasn't ashamed of any of them. If someone at the range didn't like them, well, too bad.

I sure wouldn't be ashamed of that one either. ;) :D
