Coke stocks restoration

I want to give a huge shout out to our very own 44magget. I recently sent him a set of abused coke bottle stocks for repair and what I got back was amazing.

….and what I got back. Cracks in both panels repaired, checkering recut, losses around the butt repaired, and the football area completely rebuilt.

Convert a set of neglected cut frame John Hurst stocks to a round but for a model 19-3 snub I had laying around and I was astounded with what I got back. I posted a thread about his work but here are some quick pictures from it.

A year or so back Kurt perfected his skills on a basket case of Cokes of mine so as to be able to do an excellent job of yours. I will echo everything that has been said about this talented man.

I sent Curt an original pair of Walter Roper grips with a chip missing. When he returned them to me, I had to refer to a before photo to remind myself where the chip had been. It didn’t make any difference as even knowing, I couldn’t spot the repair. Not only does he do amazing work, he’s an incredibly nice man and I’m glad I can consider him my friend.

I believe Curt cares so much about preserving the history of S & W grips that his craftsmanship allows all his patrons to bring their grips out to be appreciated. Getting the grips out of the storage boxes and back on the guns is one of his talents.

Curt did not restore these. He made them, from a simple chunk of firewood. These images are from they were first returned to me. The curl has darkened with age.
