Patronized yesterday's poorly attended show at the Vegas Convention Center. Besides the heat, I think the $15 parking fee kept many away.

Although I wasn't able to land a beautiful 4" 57 that I had my eye on, I did come home with a very nice JM stamped Marlin 1894s 44mag/spl. It pairs nicely with my 1894 Cowboy Limited in 45 Colt, Ruger Bisley in 44 spl and Ruger Vaquero Sheriff's Model in 45 Colt/acp.

$15 just to park?:eek::eek: Who sponsored that show, the thieves at LiveNation? I'd have turned around and come home if faced with that.

Entrance fee was $15, but parking was just raised from $10 to $15. I was lucked out and the parking attendant was MIA upon arrival. :D

There were 4-5 tables with some interesting pieces but prices were laughable.

2.5" 66-2 98% $1650
4" 686 98% $1460
4" nickel 57 95% $1950

I am much more successful at finding great pieces and great prices at my LGS' in Reno and Vegas; Bass Pro and Willey Bros seldom disappoints.

I'm laughing. I'll bet the sellers took them home after the show.

Yeah, it didn't go over well. The convention center charges for parking. Even the vendors have to pay. Most tolerated $10, but for most $15 is a bridge too far. Doubt I'll attend future shows. I know it was the last show for many of the vendors. Too many other shows in the area.

Most definitely. To start negotiations, I offered a nice 3.5" 27 staraight up. He countered with my 3.5" and $500 for the 57 and wouldn't budge from there. I thanked him for his time and walked away.

That's crazy - $500 boot for that deal...

For each model 57 buyer there must be fifty model 27 buyers. Likely more yours being the coveted 3.5 inch. Condition for condition I'd think $100 would have made everybody happy.

In many ways the Strip area is pricing itself out of business. I certainly don't go there unless I'm getting a great discount or a freebie. I predict that come the next slump, this city will really struggle to recover. Pretty much all the fat is gone, and at some point the desire to gamble won't overcome the stark reality that Vegas has got expensive. We can thank the input of suits about 2015 who steered Vegas towards 'national industry norms'. Didn't we fight a Cold War to avoid such sameness?:mad::mad:

Thanks, that's exactly what I was thinking. My next counter offer was going to be $100. I know he has to pay for his tables and my 27 didn't have the original grips. However, I didn't want his 57 that bad. :)

If our local gun show didn't have free parking I would not attend.

Same here, I rarely pay. Both the Reno and Vegas convention centers charge for parking (the only venues that charge). In Reno I can park across the street and walk in. Unfortunately, there's no place to park offsite in Vegas. It's unlikely I'll go back. There're too many other shows in Vegas.

The nearest gun shows to me are in Gettysburg, York and Frederick, MD. None of them charge for parking. If I would have to pay $25-$30 just to get in I don't think I would be going to those shows.

I paid the parking had a $4.00 coupon for entry. I noticed dealers that had S&W revolvers have been showing the same guns for some time. I think the high prices are stopping people from buying them.
I have noted at past LV show many California license vehicles in the lot and cart loads of ammo being taken out, I am guessing to the California cars.
I did not see any large purchases of ammo on Saturday.
I spent $4.32 for a coffee.

Spend $15 for a coffee or burger and drink but complain at parking for 3 or 4 hours of entertainment and a chance at the grail gun!!!!

You have to understand how Vegas used to work in its civilized times before it went totally corporate. We NEVER paid for parking anywhere, and when the facility has a huge car park that you could lose half a small town in and it's empty, charging $15 to park is just gouging. Besides, with entry fee the cost is $30, $15 to get in, and another $15 to park. Bovine excrement.

Incredible!!

The new Rugers have supposedly improved on the abysmal Remlin quality levels, but are still nowhere near of nice a gun as a proper JM marked Marlin rifle.

Congrats!!!

I don't think it was the promoter, the convention center control's parking fees.

I got lucky and didn't have to pay because there was no parking attendant. Heard later that the AC in the little booth wasn't working so no attendant. Probably the first time I appreciated OSHA. :)
