M 625- 45ACP roll call

I’ve got a 325NG, a British proofed 1917, and a 625-8 JM. The JM is still in the box under the tree. Don’t get to play with it till Christmas……

I once had a 5" M625. It was a bit too heavy for a duty gun, so I swapped the barrel. I wanted a 4" Mountain Gun barrel, but the factory didn't have one in stock. Found a 3" full lug at Brownells and installed that one.

Sold it about 10 years ago. :(

Been shooting my M625-8(JM) at our monthly IDPA and ASI matches recently and am really enjoying it. Has been a while since I used it for a variety of reasons but I’m glad I brought it out of semi retirement. Just love it’s accuracy, reloading ease and it shoots “big boy bullets”

I replaced the mainspring and TRS with the Wilson kit with good results. I also have a green FO front sight and VZ round to square grips on it.

It now has me hankering for a 22-4. :-)

So who as a 625 in 45 ACP, how do you like it and what do you use it for?

My 625 in a Ron Power Grandmaster makeover. Used to shoot bowling pin competition, still use it occasionally for Steel Challenge type matches.

.45 (Colt&ACP) is my predominant revolver caliber right behind .22LR. With blue outnumbering SS. Here’s 4 ACP’s that are all good shooters.
Please don’t ask my favorite.

Unwrapped my new to me 625-8 JM this morning. I swapped the JM grips out for some Ahrends r-to-s combats I had laying around. Much better fit for me.

I’ve got a bunch of medium 45acp 255gr SWC’s loaded up that I’ll run through it. I’m hoping the weather will hold off so I can break it in at the range this week……

New to me

Got this one from GB, Seller listed that he had cleaned up the gun. When they did the cleaning they took the darkened finish off the visible parts of the hammer and trigger, see left picture. Had side plate cover off and the non-visible parts have a dark phosphate type coating-not case hardened. Found the other picture below in this thread that shows the darker color, see right picture.

Gun shot great and hammer / trigger color is not a big enough deal that I would want to replace, but does anyone know if I can darken them back up easily with a simple acid wash or ??

My 2nd 625-2 4”. I initially used my first for IPSC and foolishly sold it. About 10 years ago I’m located another really clean one at a good price and this one is here to stay. At 75 I’m no longer shooting IPSC so I’ve dedicated this one for paper punching and plinking.

The 625-2’s are excellent revolvers!

This is my first 625-2, a Model of 1989. It came from a friends fathers estate, regretfully along with the passing of my friend too during the time frame of the transaction. I've only had it a couple of months, and as of yet I haven't shot it but looking forward to it. It came with the box, tools, all paperwork, a couple dozen moon clips and half moons, and the original stocks along with the Pachs. His father was a serious enthusiast and it has had some action work, very slick and light trigger. I also got a 648 no dash in the package.

I'm currently looking for a 5" 625 to keep my Performance Center 627 company.

My 625-8

625-8 PC in 45 ACP and 625-5 in 45 Colt. I had both grips just waiting for a pistol, so they look real purty. I target shoot for fun.
