New/Old complaint, it is warmish

While where we live (SWFL) does get hot and humid, - the humidity here is not as high as in many other places around the Country. Thankfully, our AC unit keeps our home nice and cool and our indoor humidity level is between 37% and 42% which is quite comfortable.

It's after 9:00 and it's still over 90 degrees here in Houston. The good news is the humidity is down to 52%! Two days ago it was 100 degrees with 80% humidity.

Of course the High Pressure "Heat Dome" has one big advantage. It's an excellent hurricane repellent.

Great point about the heat dome! I will take the heat over hurricanes. And it is not as bad as last summer, we had weeks of 100 degree days and 85 degree nights last year. It is almost September so it should start easing off just a bit. I am looking forward to 85 degree days and 75 degree nights. The pool is a bit warm, about 95 or so, when it gets down to 85 it will be a bit too chilly to swim.

It has been a bit hot to go to the range, so looking forward to that as well, although during the summer you can get it pretty much to yourself

I live in town, within two miles of two different indoor ranges. I'd prefer outdoors but the heat means I don't shoot in the summers. It did rain a lot this year too. Plus it's a bit of a drive for me to an outdoor range. Come fall, if there's an especially nice day, I might go out to ASC in George Bush Park as a "Field Trip". That's the closest outdoor range. A couple of times a year I like to go to a different range just for fun.

Outdoor ranges are also slow, what with waiting on the ceasefires and all. Between the drive time and the slower shooting it's kind of a pain. Plus of course the heat.

Since I don't shoot rifles, indoor ranges are O.K. ... I guess. I only shoot during the week so there's often nobody else there. Most of the time it's just me and the RSO.

A while back, was living between the Loops just North of the Bandera Highway. That's in San Antonio, TX.
Then Texas folks like to name their roads for the towns they go to.
The local TV weather folks announced Blue Norther bad weather!
They cut to an on the scene team up in the Hill Country.
Is it snowing up there?
Yes it is!
They pointed the camera at their vehicle windshield.
OMG! There are actual snowflakes on that glass!
Where is my Parka?

OMG I remember the big snow of I think it was January 1984. We were living in San Antonio not far from Loop 1604 and we got about 4-5 inches of the nasty white stuff. It stuck around for at least 3-4 days, and you took your life in your hands if ventured out on the streets of highways. Native Texans in So. Central Texas do NOT know how to drive on snow or ice. It is down right scary the things they do.

Right now on my lanai with the ceiling fan on high. I call it a screened in patio, but everyone around here call them lanai for some reason.

Probably some developer was looking for a fancier sounding name for a screened porch so they could charge more.
What's fancier than something from our far off, and exotic (at least to us mainlanders) 50th state, Hawaii.

BTW, happy birthday to Hawaii, August 21, 1959.

4-5 inches, a big snow?
Ha Ha Ha You funny man!

We get all 4 seasons here. Of course any one of those seasons can happen on any day throughout the year with no rhyme or reason. Our whether is "like a box of chocolates".

I belong to Pearland Shooting Club, about 10 minutes from my house. Lots of pistol bays and cells, rifle ranges out to 300 yards. When I want less structure I will had up to my hunt lease on 2800 acres outside of Llano, we have ranges set there from 25 yard to 500 yards. I have not shot at an indoor range in a decade. But any shooting is better then no shooting!

As I have mentioned before...I live in the Ohio Valley where there are 18 confirmed seasons.
Just two down here, hurricane and tourist. Not enough to differentiate the rest of the year.
I first heard the term "lanai" used from an old school operator at the plant while doing injectivity tests. While flow and pressure stabilized we'd get out of the loud VFD room for a smoke on a mini loading dock on the side of the building.

It's 104 in Hutto, TX as I type this. It's hot, but from talking to natives it's not record hot. Nor is it evidence of global anything other than it's mid August in central Texas.

Coming from the northeast, I'll take it. At least I won't have to shovel a foot of temperature from my driveway. ;)
