Good evening,

I am looking for the schematics for an old S&W no 3 model 2 as I am trying to repair the ejector. It seems to be missing a spring attaching the serrated wheel to the main frame and would push the serrated wheel up against the ejector spring .
I think I'm going to have to build one once i find the schematics

Any leads are appreciated

Thanks

Hmel, try this from just above your post one page back as your identification is confusing: To IDENTIFY your Gun >

Hi There,

Could you post a pic of the problem? Your description doesn't match
the nomenclature used with the No. 3 and it is difficult to know what
you are referring to. I have a vague idea of what you want but some
more clarification would be helpful. Also, there are variations in the
No. 3 lineage. Are you talking about the American model, Russian
model or possibly the New Model? A pic would go a long way to
identifying your revolver and then knowing what you need.

The extraction mechanism changed several times over the period
when the No. 3 was made. So, pics will be a big help.

Cheers!

Thank you for your answers.

I was able to find the names of the parts in the book Antique Firearms Assembly/Disassembly: The comprehensive guide to pistols, rifles & shotguns. By Chicoine as you kindly pointed me too.

I believe the three pieces I need are:

Ratchet Paw
Cylinder pin screw
Guard screw Front .

Does anyone know where I can buy these parts? Or have them manufactured?
I have attached some pics of the revolver.

Thanks!

OK, we're on our way. Your revolver is a Model 3, 2nd Model Russian. It appears that you need a ratchet pawl, cylinder pin retaining screw, and, from your 1st photo, a cylinder stop. Looking at the 1st photo, I believe you need a barrel latch spring and maybe the cam to go with the spring.

Now for the hard part, I can only suggest that you watch eBay, check Gun Parts Corporation and Jack First.

Hi There,

I agree about the spring but I didn't think the 2nd model Russian
used the cam. I thought they used the same "Vee" spring as the
second model American. I don't own a second model Russian (at
least, not yet) but the parts breakdown indicates the same spring
as the 2nd Model American.

Cheers!

I have not pulled one of these apart so all I can tell is that the barrel latch in the photo appears lodged in the open (up) position. It should snap back to the top of the top strap under spring pressure. Something is amiss.

I totally agree. He needs a new spring. Something like this.

Cheers!

Almost no reproduction revolver parts will interchange with an original S&W. Very few parts can be modified to fit and most that do work are coil springs.
