SHeard Ga. power is “ concentrating on the big cities” so to heck with small towns. Hope to be moving early next year.

I call that 'McNamara thinking'. If you have a fix that gets the lights on for 1,000 people, or a fix that works for 100,000, guess which one looks better on the sortie sheet.

I recall down here after widespread damages the easy fixes were performed first before tackling the devastated areas. Things are likely different in the rural spots, the single line up my folks drive after Opal took a good while.

And why wouldn't they restore the most at a time before going after the onesies twosies? Only makes sense. My son is a lineman with our local utility, their sending crews to VA. I'll get word to them that if anyone complains that it's taking too long that they should immediately drive away and take a long break.

The really devastated areas take more manpower and equipment to be delivered to the area . This takes time . It also depends on if those areas are able to be energized once they are repaired . There may be damage to substation or transmission facilities . It's a process with a lot of variables .

My son drove to Mitchell, GA (Glascock county) to check on the campers at his hunting club. He said the power was out from Siloam to Mitchell, about thirty six miles. Trees and power lines are down everywhere.

We have friends in western North Carolina who have it much worse, if that is possible.

Power went out about 1500 Thursday and came back on about 0300 Saturday as I was pulling into the driveway coming home from work. Fortunately not a lot of flooding around here but major trees down around the neighbors houses. Mine suffered no damage.

We had a 16 KW Genarac installed 3 years back. Propane fired. Good investment, saved a freezer full of meat a couple of times.

To my amazement power came back on yesterday afternoon. Went to Sister in laws to watch tv, got home around 5:30 and lights were on.

Hey folks, missed y’all! I lost power at 6:53am on 9/27. It is still off, and as frustrating as that is, all is well because it could be MUCH WORSE! I live in Greenville, SC. Asheville, NC from what I’ve heard on the radio is much, much worse! Not only are they without power, they don’t have water either!! I don’t know if y’all have ever heard of Lake Lure or Chimney Rock, NC but I’ve heard that the small beautiful quaint town of Chimney Rock was completely wiped off the map. Apparently some dam failed and the flooding washed everything away!!

Since I still don’t have power, and just got to a place with good enough internet to get online for a few minutes, I thought that I would check in here. Had to throw out EVERYTHING in my refrigerator and freezer, I only had a quarter of a tank of gas in my truck (finally got gas on Tuesday after waiting in line for 2 hours), got ice yesterday, and washed clothes at a laundromat today. Many folks have gotten their power back on, so it’s only a matter of time for me. I believe that a sinkhole that appeared just outside my neighborhood is causing the delay in getting the power back on.

Please pray for the folks in Asheville, Chimney Rock and surrounding areas!

Been through all the small towns in the news and can not imagine to destruction not shown. Rt 19 N. of Asheville is gone so no way to get to Mars Hill, Burnsville Spruce Pine and many other small towns. There needs to be many CH-47s and if sill around CH-54s flying in supplies.

Talked to a girl at the gym today, she is one of the guys and strong as heck, whose husband is a field supervisor for Duke. He is working 16-20 hour days.

I wouldn’t live in Asheville for anything, but seeing the devastation caused by the hurricane is unimaginable. I just saw that Asheville Water says full restoration will take weeks! They must boil water before consumption. That will be tough with no power or grill. I guess there is tons of wood to burn and make fires everywhere. There is a water tanker set up to distribute water, but only one gallon per person. Schools are closed indefinitely! CRAZY!! Praying for all those suffering.

My restoration time has come and gone, and now rescheduled for 10/6 by midnight. It’s going to take a considerable amount of work to accomplish that, but it will get done at some point. Thank goodness it isn’t 95 degrees or 20 degrees! More Grocery stores, convenience stores, restaurants , and gas stations are opening every day. I always remember many, many folks have it much worse!

We have an empty lot in W Asheville where a local church is feeding around 500 folks a day. Wish I was the age to actually help physically.

I wonder how the people who own electric vehicles are getting around with the power outages? Its not like having a 5 gallon can of gas in your garage.
