After 25 years …no Internal Lock!

Y'all do realize that this is just a sales gimmick, don't ya?

And to all those speculating/ hoping that S&W will expand the "No Lock" line, yeah, good luck with that.

Hum... Interesting...

Just got an official promo email from S&W. Lipsey's release of two new no lock Mountain Guns, a 686 and a 629, 14040 and 14041, each stainless, 4" tapered barrels, and smooth no-logo TGW Bear Hug stocks.

I am guessing the frames had to be developed to do this.

Now that they have built a no lock frame for J, K, L, I hope we see some 3" models and a 3.5" .357 in that N frame would be awesome. None of that would take much engineering at all.

If it would've been a Shot Show release, it would've been slightly more covered across the gun world. However, it is a great thing to see!

I think its great S&W is making the new stuff. I'm for sure getting the new .357 Mountain Gun. The Model 10 is pretty sweet also. Probably end up getting that too.

I'm not a collector just a shooter and even with the lock, which I've never used, my S&W 586-8 .357 mag shoots just fine so I see no need to buy another just for cosmetic reasons.
Besides, if I want to shoot a revolver without a lock I can take the ex PD 38spl S&W 10-10 or the 45acp Colt 1917 service revolver out of the safe and give them some exercise.

Gee, a Military & Police with tapered barrel, semicircular sight, and smooth grips. They ought to call it the New Victory Model.

Retro is in.

I like that idea only use Parkerized finish, stamp them PROPERTY OF U.S. NAVY on the Left side of the frame and add a lanyard ring.

A bad mistake being rectified even though it took way too long.

Now if the move back toward previous levels of QC can be implemented there may hope for S & W in the future.

Definitely a move in the right direction but replacing my older models with new ones won't be my highest priority. I'd love to be able to say I wore out a solid 28-2.

The Sc models have interested me but I couldn't get over the Hillary hole. A 327 TRR8 would be hard to resist.

TBTV's James Reeves posted a video on YouTube today from SHOT Show where he interviewed a S&W marketing rep about the new Model 10 Classic no lock.

https://youtu.be/KUj24AciKl0?si=nRdPlFRjQA6_WJbY

If you go to 6:55-ish, you'll hear this:

James Reeves:"They're off now. They're coming off. The locks are coming off."

S&W rep: "Yep. They are."

Based on the context of the conversation just before those comments, it seems to be a good omen that S&W has realized the locks are unnecessary and have hurt sales, so they're going away for good.

It's solid steel frames on all that they have released so far. No plugged holes. The S&W rep in the video is quite telling. The hole is gone. The lock revolvers some of us bought over the past 20 years may have become collectables. LoL

Actually, new lock frames probably only for sale in California.
