I purchased a revolver scope base advertised as a S&W revolver scope base, but received a scope base for a Ruger pistol in a EGW package marked as a S&W base.

Obviously it was not what was advertised, I contacted EGW and they stated that the part number on the package did not show in their system. I contacted the seller and he called me a liar. I have the email from EGW that I wanted to forward to him.

The Gunbroker seller bmgunsmith (Wardensville, WV) said send it back which I did, he replied that he is only going to pay me the original purchase price, Not a Full Cost Refund of $23.86. BTW He required a money order for payment.

The seller then blocked me from communicating with him.

My cost to date is $23.86 for the original purchase & tax, $2.35 for the money order, $5.50 for the return postage for a total cost of $31.71 for his mistakes and I do not have a sight base.

So I'm $9.71 in the hole for his mistake.

I had a similar experience with a eBay vendor I had dealt with a number of times without issue. I bought a set of handgun grips from them that did not fit properly. I sent them back and received a refund. They then banned me buying or even bidding on their sales…nor would they answer numerous inquiries why.

Who is the ebay vendor we need to avoid???

I have had really good experiences with the Ebay Buyer Protection Plan.

I found that out, too, but it was for a lot more money. I haven't bought anything off Gunbroker in many years.

And some GB vendors can be very aggressive in leaving bad reviews about the buyer, even though buyer did nothing wrong. I had a seller straight up lie to me twice with regards to receiving payment and shipping. When I left him a negative review he called me a newbie pandemic buyer. Idiot !

Caveat Emptor on ANY & ALL purchases, whether in person or online, but one needs to be especially diligent regarding online purchases. Although I'm sure there are some tempting deals on GunJoker, I avoid it like the plague. JMHO & YMMV

I only use Gunbroker or Ebay to get an idea what a particular firearm is selling for, both for when I might buy or when I might want to sell. As a result I have never been ripped off by any internet vendor. I likely pay a bit more for whatever I buy, but by buying from a brick and mortar gun shop, and almost always buying new rather than used guns, I have never had a problem.

The one new gun that gave me grief was a sub compact Kimber bought years ago. But the store I bought it from stood behind their sale, and when two trips back to Kimber did not fix the problems they gave me a full credit for the price I had paid. You won't get that from Gunbroker or Ebay.
