Would have thought that they would have moved to a more firearm friendly state and one with lower taxes. But I guess most anywhere is better than New Jersey. Better than out of the country.......
Here's the official statement...a business decision, plain and simple. But that's OK, I know job loss, pain and suffering of fellow gun owners that live in the hated states makes many here feel good...so enjoy your celebration.
Henry Commits 100% of Its Operations to the State of Wisconsin | Henry Repeating Arms
Dey got da Green Bay Packers. That's enough for me.Politically, is WI that much better than NJ to justify the move? Guess so.
Any other firearms firms that wish to evacuate gun-unfriendly states please strongly consider moving to SC.
The company has always been run by old Yankees.
Maybe they don’t like hot, steamy, humid weather.
I know I don’t.
I had occasion today to phone Henry Firearms customer service regarding a minor issue I had regarding a storage box...it seemed like a very long time till anyone called me back...the lady I talked to explained to me the turmoil the workers there are going through right now...many have quit, some hanging on till the end, not many willing to relocate...they are way short on staff now so everything customer service takes longer...as we were talking she sounded like she was crying and told me she is going to stay till the end but there are not any jobs in the area...I felt very sorry for her...I went through a "closing" situation years ago and it is NOT a nice thing to go through...
I’m guessing the owner tried hard to stay put. He’s a NY/NJ boy. That accent he has won’t work anywhere else. But NJ’s treatment of residents both residential and commercial is well known. They even tried to create an exit tax for people moving out. I mean who comes up with that? I feel horrible for the workers who can’t or won’t relocate. Breaks my heart to see the Remington plant decaying on the Mohawk River.
My Company was bought out by another, and they came in like gang busters telling us how they plan on expanding, wanting to grow us more it was awesome!!!! Then they got a clue and thought since they had operations on the east coast and west coast, they didn't need to have a company in the " middle of the country" direct quote by the president of operations. He was a true idiot. Though I was able to get a job with a sister company that they sold back to the original owner and kept my seniority. Some employees went back to the new owner's headquarters. they reported back that they had lost a major account worth 100 million a year. It was my acct. that when I 1st started 31yrs ago and was only worth $500,000 a year. I grew the product from day 1. I was so happy to hear that they screwed it up after my boss and I warned them of their mistake that this kind of move wouldn't work. They lost the account in less than 1 yr! I have kept in touch with several of my core friends from the original company. Some had families and were not as lucky as me ... they lost everything Some ended up in divorce. Their kids fell into the drug scene turned to crime. I feel so bad for them. I'm sure most of that may not be caused by loss of a job, but we were making bank with plenty of OT everyone was doing well. I'm hoping to retire in a few yrs with my current company fingers crossed. In Short LOL.... Most companies that move probably really don't or want to know the impact or toll it puts on employees who end up losing jobs. It just proves the point Profits above all!!!
