Holy grail pre model 14 ???

Looking at the bid history looks like a couple guys bd it "over the top" and doubled the value.

Birthday gun gone wild!

Excellent workmanship, that's for sure!

Perhaps a 300% markup from rational pricing. But some people look at $5.5 as walking around money...

That must be a new record price for a K38! It looks like the target trigger may have been added later.

I'll have to settle for this crummy 1953 satin blue no-target trigger havin' not-original-but-factory nonrelieved targets Pee-Oh-Ess one, I guess.

$600 about 10 years ago :)

The condition of the box does not match the condition of the gun. And wasn't it around '49 or so when they started shipping all K38 target masterpieces with the heavy, non-tapered barrel?

Tell me if I'm off base here...

If you look at buyer history you'll notice that he's a regular of Atlas and AK Arms which I suspect are affiliated, either this is a motivated buyer with very deep pockets or it's one of their shills which wouldn't surprise me in the least as they're pretty common on GB these days and this will be listed again in a few months.

The wonderment of the "15 Minute Rule" especially on a Sunday night.

The auction should have ended at 8:57 with a $2200 high bid. Bidder A and B were both online. Bidder B was bested by Bidder A who entered a $3,000 high bid. Bidder B kept trying to top A who entered a number they thought would discourage others. But no! They battled it out and more than doubled the price. Picture attached.

For those not familiar, the 15 minute rule extends the end time of the auction to a 15 minute clock each time a bid is placed within the last 15 minutes of an auction. This is to discourage sniping the bid (bids placed a few seconds before auction close). The auction will not close until no bids are placed in the last 15 minutes.

To the skeptics (me included, originally).... the sale was completed and feedback was given within a few days of the auction close. It was a legit battle for the gold!

The serial number on the gun points to 1955. The box is appropriate for that year. Whether the serial number on the bottom of the box matches the gun is an unknown, of course.

Here's a couple of mine. One satin, one high polish, both 6 inch, all matching and original. The polished one is a very close serial number to the auction. They are both fine pistols and they are still affordable. I guess it's time to letter them.
