I think I may have a slight addiction… worked some overtime and made some room in the safe and wanted to do something for myself a bit.

It’s a 1970-vintage Combat Masterpiece, 4”, to go with my Model 10 and Model 65. I’m pretty happy with the idea; how did I do?

Also, what should I know about this revolver? It’ll be a sometimes-carry, range-gun.

No pics?

I am wanting a M15 for daily carry on the farm as well, however I don’t want anything nice. I want ugly or beat up. Plans are to polish it up and put some spiffy combats on it.

Ha! we’re lucky, especially you, as I was looking at model 15s there around 10am EDST. I’d have been bidding with you on that. That is an especially nice deal!

Yea, it’s best to set your price and then let it ride. My only gunjoker buy so far was a 31-1 .32 S&W long that was going for about what you paid or less until a shill bidder showed up that final morning. After about the third up bid, I looked up the other bidder, a FFL 30 miles away from the auction seller. I stopped bidding but I ended up getting it. Cost me an extra $100 or so. I wish I retracted my bid out of principle and let them relist it.

I was just in another post on a 15-3 snub and the fellow mentioned cold blue. I forgot that that was my other b on the 31-1 deal. They hid wear on the muzzle and cylinder edges with cold blue that wiped right off when I got it.

I recently won a nickel 15-2 for $408 plus tax and shipping. The seller had it marked as a "very rare" 3" gun, but the pictures clearly show a 4" gun. The gun is dated 1963, so I can use my C&R and avoid transfer fees and Tennessee's $10 background check fee.

The Combat Masterpiece is a wonderful handgun. I only have two but would buy another one in a heartbeat. Here they are:

Model 15-2

Model 15-3

Interesting, the name Thiokol. That is the company that manufactured the solid rocket motors for the Minuteman series of ICBMs. Coincidentally, I was a Minuteman II Missile Combat Crewmember at Whiteman AFB, 1977-1982....and carried a Model 15, 2" while on alert duty, and a 4" -15 while couriering classified items to the launch control centers. I believe these were the last revolvers issued to the US military. I have had several 15's since then, seeing them as the ne plus ultra of .38 revolvers. My last one I gave to my daughter-in-law and bought a Model 67 - the stainless version of the -15 - for me....

OT= new toys= Keeping my sanity bucause i dont have a choice in OT. My last sanity purchase was a first model trooper in .22. I have added several nice smith and colt revolvers with the help of OT

You got a helluva good deal on that!!!

The last one I bought was a pretty finish worn old cop gun ( actually a pre model number gun) out of a plastic bin of police trade in’s for $300 but that was about 15 years ago! I still miss the 2” I foolishly traded off, which was another rough outside great mechanics inexpensive T one looks to be in great shape and at a really good price. Being able to get it shipped directly to you on a C&R is a bonus for sure. I also have a C&R and unfortunately a lot of GB sellers won’t accept them anymore
