Model 28-2 Highway Patrolman

I had a 4" 28 years ago, they were way less money than the S&W premium models and yet were just as good. You can fire as many .357s as your heart desired and you aren't going to hurt these big N frames in the slightest. Accurate and have an extra feature in that you could beat a man to death with one with ease. Like carrying an anvil in a holster, but who cares, they are just great examples of industrial art.

Thanks for this. It helped me narrow mine down to a specific year (1973).

For everyone else, jncluding the OP, nice pictures. The post from Finland was interesting.
Sure. It was sent to me the other day.
I need to go through all mine and try to determine the year of manufacture.
I know a few but not all.

I picked up this S prefix 28-2 years ago. It was wearing Pachmayrs when I bought it. As I was leaving, the guy asked if I was interested in some take off stocks. I said sure… the cokes turned a decent deal into a sweet one.

Cokes! Wow!

I bought a model 28 Highway Patrolman with a 4" barrel. Could anyone tell me the approximate year of manufacture? The serial number is N5311XX.

As you can see the grips are not original, they're from eBay. The gun came with rubber grips but I prefer wood on blue. Esthetically the revolver has seen better days, but so have I. :D

I would put an older set of bone or stag stocks on that beauty and call it a day!
Welcome aboard.

Alright - duly influenced by the 28 / Highway Patrolman love pictured in this thread, my 28-2s below. The one with the more polished finish and yellow-insert front sight was the subject of a separate post of mine and is soon to have some action work performed on it.

I dig the 28s!

You are gonna make me trade shorter.

You suppose anyone prefers 6” to 4”. Might be worth a try on a local forum.
