Looking at the top right grip panel screw, it appears it is not a slotted head like the other screws. Does the top left screw go all the way through to the other side?

I’m not looking at mine right now, but that fits with my recollection.
It is my recollection (never mind both mine have been gone for the better part of four years) the fastener is a slotted screw, and does not go all the way through.
We'll consider this as a memory test to be confirmed or denied when someone who KNOWS what they're talking about comes along!

Looked at my gun. There are three grip screws. Top left goes all the way through. Bottom two meet in the middle.

Just got it home. The top left screw does go through to an escutcheon on the other side. The 4th Model, one of 1870 guns (IAW SCSW) is a real work of art.

I know this is an older thread, but I have some information that might help.
The three machine screws used on the Straight Line grips are a size #5 with a 44 threads per inch cut. The head is referred to as a Fillister style head. It's kind of shaped like a round cake, with a cut for your screwdriver blade.

I have my 4th model right next to me. I need to take it to the range for a little work out. I'm betting it will be very accurate with standard velocity ammo.
How was your walk on the wild side?
Anybody asked how many rounds the magazine held or why were you only shooting it single shot?

Life got in the way of my range trip. I'm sure the kids banging away with their plastic 9mm's will be shocked at the accuracy Maybe next week.

Although the Straightline looks like an auto loader, the Straightline IS a Single Shot.
Whenever I take mine to the indoor range. It never fails that one of the range officers will tell me to remove the magazine before I leave the firing line so all shooters can advance forward to change their targets. Our indoor range is somewhat primitive, no automated
target trollies.

That's funny! I do see their point on range safety though. I guess that I'd have the same comment from the looks of the Straightline too.

I took my Straight Line to an indoor range last week. When I was paying for my range time, on the way in, I asked the employees if they would like to see a truly unusual handgun. It wasn't very busy at the time, and they all came around.
What a HOOT! None of them had ever even heard of a Straight Line, but everyone loved the piece. They couldn't believe it was from 1929.
When I entered the range proper, I got with the Range Safety Officer to show/explain what I had. He had a big smile too.
ANYWAY, the gun is way more accurate than I am... although that's not uncommon for me.
It was a nice time, and I know I'll have a good reception at the range on my next visit. Maybe "Show-and-Tell" again.
And getting back to the original screw question, here's a close up photo of the upper (longer) grip panel screw. The two lower ones are similar, just shorter. It is a #5-44 machine screw with a Fillister style head. Damn difficult to find. The "Fine" threading on a #5 machine screw is 44 threads per inch. The "Coarse" threading on a #5 machine screw is 40 threads per inch. I didn't have a thread check gauge small enough to check these small screws, so I had to take some macro (close-up) photos, zoom in, and count.
