About a month ago I bought a new 610 Mountain Gun and after 5 cylinders fired the gold dot front sight went flying. I called S&W a few days later and was told a replacement was on the way, nothing as of today. Whats going on? If store where I bought it was not few 100 miles away I'd take it back. Not happy or impressed with S&W…..

Are they sending you just the bead? Or a new sight blade with bead attached?
How would one go about reattaching a new bead?
Such a bummer that S&W can't get this right.

Guy I talked to said they would send the bead. Small steel pin with head gold plated inserted in hole on rear face of sight. I asked why they didn't use loc-tite and he said they were afraid it would get" somewhere it didn't belong". Speaks volumes about S&W assemblers. If and when I get it I'll loc-tite it or use the other type to fix it.

Have used various loc-tite for almost 50 years. I know what to do if and when I get the gold dot insert. Going to call S&W again Monday and ask them for a credit or they can take pistol back. Absolutely No Excuse for garbage like this……….

Is that a DX style sight? If so, just buy a Hi-Viz type and be done with it.
I agree wholeheartedly...but only If it's going to be a shooter...if it's part of a collection, then it should be kept original...but otherwise HI-Viz is my go-to on All my carry guns

I have the 686MG. I am quite content with the quality. If that little pin goes away, I'm not going to obsess over it, or trash S&W on the internet. It is just not a big deal...

It's not about what it is, its why it happened...Quality is much more important than a $10 pin. S&W makes guns, they shouldn't be coming apart because the assemblers find it daunting to do it right.

Yes, appears they no longer sell just the bead. You would have to purchase the complete blade with bead installed if the height would be correct for your gun which is what I did for my 66.
Could probably make one up from a brass brad or something but the bottom line is still that the OP shouldn't be waiting over a month for S&W to get one in the mail.
