A Las Vegas team made it all the way to the Little League World series. The game was played today and Vegas went in there hamstrung in a couple of ways. First, Little League rules are such that we could not field out #1 pitcher. Almost worse was the regular catcher getting injured in the US Championship game and one of the other kids had to step in.

The other team was from Taipei, and I have to say they were extremely well coached, disciplined and patient. I think the Vegas pitchers were very disheartened by how tight the strike zone seemed to be. I thought it was the camera angle fooling me until the commentators gave their opinion on the matter. Still, it was the same for both teams, and the discipline I spoke of for the Taipei boys was very much lacking with the Vegas lads. They seemed to find it impossible to lay off the first pitch they saw. Also, Taipei were fielding their top pitcher, a lad who throw over 80 mph a few times during the tournament. Final score was 7-0, with most of the scoring in a later inning, aided by an error that cost runs runs. Maybe next year...

I missed the game. I forgot about while I was watching the Fed Ex golf tournament. I watched a few of the LLWS games during the playoffs and one thing I noticed was the umpires each had a quite different idea of the strike zone. Must have been tough for the kids to adapt.

Nice to see Tommy Fleetwood get his first USPGA win, and to do it in the match to win all the marbles for the year. :)

When the releaving pitcher for Vegas walked the first three batters that he faced,
I was hoping the coach would correct the problem.
Not.
When you are already down by two runs, you don't need to help out the other team,
do you?

Maybe nexy year.

It's the capital city of Taiwan, bro. Kind of like the DC Commanders or the Austin FC

Just so you know:

"Chinese Taipei" is the name that the Republic of China (ROC), commonly known as Taiwan, uses to participate in international sporting events, most notably the Olympic Games, due to a compromise with the People's Republic of China (PRC). This agreement, reached in 1981 through the Nagoya Resolution, allows Taiwan to compete without explicitly identifying as a sovereign nation, a status the PRC rejects.

Congrats to Taiwan

At least Fox News got it right https://www.foxnews.com/sports/taiwan-defeats-nevada-win-2025-little-league-world-series

My grandson is now 14 and pitches on a select team. The pitch limits are there so that young growing kids don't have their arms abused. To pitch two days in a row or back-to-back games on the same day their pitch count has to stay at 40 max in the initial game. Also 60 or 70 MPH in Little League is at a mound distance of 46 or 50 feet depending on what level of Little League they play at - not 60' 6". 60 gets on a batter pretty quick at the 46/50' distance.
