What technique do you employ when polishing your revolvers? Tools? Qtips? Microfiber? How do you obtain such detail? Wow!! What an awesome collection you have. Totally impressed everytime I read one of your threads.

I preserve my collection with Rennaisance Wax. It is a museum grade wax that is recommended for firearms and antiques. It can be purchased from Brownells (stock number 053-050-200) for $25.95 per can (a can will last you a lifetime).

Bill,

Do you also use the Rennaisance Wax on your Shooters?

Thanks,

D Mark...No, I clean my shooters with Clenzoil and wipe them thoroughly with a clean, cotton T-shirt.

Doc,

Ever heard of or tried Snake Oil? I saw it recommended on Jim Supica's link site (perhaps by him - I can't remember). It is a blend of oil and wax.

No, I haven't heard of Snake Oil. I will ask Jim about it when I see him next week at the S&WCA meeting.

I'd go w/ Doc's suggestion of microcrystalline wax for non-shooters. I use it on my guns & the NFM uses it on the Museum's guns. Brand names are Renaissance Wax and Curator's Choice.

Bill,
What is your recommendation for your "collector" quality firearms?
* do you remove the stocks and store seperately?
* do you use the "Rennaisance"/ "Clenzoil" on the stocks also?
Thanks,;)

I remove the stocks on my revolvers finished in nickel and store them separately. I do not use Clenzoil routinely on stocks, but you can, without a problem. I normally clean my stocks once in a great while with almond oil or something similar (I rub the oil into the checked area with a very soft toothbrush). Storing blued guns with the stocks on has never caused a problem.
