Ahhh, the good old days when you would just hang your guns on the wall. Does anyone still do that? All of mine are in the safe, except what I carry and keep in the nightstand. I wish I had the abode for a nice room with them hanging in view. Pics anybody?

Many years ago my dad and I had guns all over the house on antler racks etc. Would leave the house unlocked and not worry about it and never lost anything. Now in the last 20 years I have been ripped off twice!

My dad died in 2003. I went home, auctioned the place off, brought his and some old guns of mine back to california. My gun safe was so full I could only put one or two in it. The rest was loose in the house. I had hid a custom snub model 60 in my truck. A day or two after I returned my truck was stolen out of my driveway. Finding the model 60 probley tipped them off this must be a gun guy. I was watched and soon as I left the house looking for another vehicle they hit the house! The truck nor guns has ever showed up! A woman that was involved was arrested but wouldnt roll on who she was with and effectively got only a couple months for stealing a credit card of mine that she ran up over 4K in one day! Truck or guns have never showed up! And the guns were all family heirlooms!

I also have a large gun cabinet with a glass door. My Dad made it himself. When he died my Mom remodeled the living room and didn't have space for it, so I took it. I don't dare keep anything in it, so it sits empty in the basement. I guess I could fill it up with winter clothes and blankets.

I wish I had some pictures, maybe I could add some later. My father passed away July 06. He left us about three hundred to deal with. My brothers decided my State had better laws than California or Hawaii to keep and bear. I was selected to store them. My wife and I sold the bi-level house we had been in for 16 years to buy a two story with a basement. I was able to build a 13' x 14' vault out of steel and cement for gun storage. I can display most of them on the walls, the left over stay in a safe. It is fun to watch a gun buff person see it for the first time. Some one will have to tell me how to post a picture.

I'll admit first off my storage methods leave a lot to be desired. I have a gun cabinet with sliding glass doors that lock. It is full so I mounted an upright rack on the wall with no locks at all.

When I want to see them, I just look and there they are. You won't hear me say, "I was going through my safe and found something I didn't know I had."

But, I'm in the process of looking for a safe which will have to go in the garage. If I want to keep them I'd better secure them, it's probably just a matter of time before something bad happens.

But I sure like going into that room and reliving the memories, craftsmanship, and history of these guns.

Oh well, a sign of the times.

Occasionally we get catalogs at work with model cars, trucks, planes etc... and one section has guns. Considering I own a Thompson but wouldn't dare leave it out for display I've contemplated buying their model but it's about $250 and I just can't bring myself to spend that much on a fake gun.

I'd love to be able to display my guns but society is a whole lot different these days so they stay locked up.

I'm sorry but you're not allowed to post anymore until pictures of that are posted. It's mandatory.

What do you mean I don't have the authority to say that?

Ok, what if I said pretty please instead?

The only guns I don't have locked up or close at hand for self defense are a couple of beat-up old rifles and a Uberti replica revolver that are hanging on the wall. These 3 may be worth a total of $300 and not worth the trouble of breaking into the house.

That's a really nice set up, great room.
I keep most everything in a safe and have some old 'stuff' that I leave in a glass doored display case. I don't want a burglar to be disappointed, they can have the junk.
If I catch them they can experience my less pleasant side.

That's What I'm Talkin' About!!! Nice Setup!!!

believe me if I could afford it i would but that looks very simular to heaven when I think about it, just a lack of indoor shooting range. about how much did this build run you?
