Where I work, as with many employers, guns are strictly prohibited. So, while legally I can carry (I have a permit), I also have rent and other bills to pay. Consequently, if I want to carry at work it's imperative that concealed means concealed.
First off, I'm built kind of like the Michelin man, and IWB carry w/o printing can be a challenge for me, depending on what I'm wearing.
I've previously carried a 9mm in a super-deep cover under the pants holster. For me it was uncomfortable and I couldn't draw while I was seated at my desk, which is where I spend the majority of the day.
Then I went to a small .380 in a really nice pocket holster. Super-comfortable but again I couldn't draw if I needed to while seated at my desk.
I've previously used Crossbreed holsters and am of them. So one day while thinking "there's got to be a better way" I was on their website and saw the Microclip. Mind you I always felt like if I was going to carry IWB I wouldn't do it with a tiny gun. But I thought in this case it would be worth a shot.
Wow, was I right. As with any Crossbreed product I've seen, the quality is outstanding. I can wear it under an un-tucked polo shirt (my "uniform" if you will) and the gun is small enough and flat enough that it disappears (which on me, larger guns do not...not under my work shirts).
I also picked up an IWB mag pouch from crossbreedseconds.com (for $20!) and, just like the holster, is the perfect solution.
As much as I'd like to have my 9mm with me (or an 870 under my desk for that matter), at least with this setup I can carry my .380 in a manner that actually allows me to access it if I need to while remaining discreet in the workplace.
