Default OK GUYS FESS UP

OK guys time to fess up.
Tell us what you wanted for Christmas and then tell us what you got.
I wanted a 1917 or maybe a set of grips for my '30 vintage .32 RP.
What I got was a a pair of shorts (it's wintertime and I really need them!) and a one serving cookie skillet.
Pics will be welcome!!!!
Larry

P.S. Sorry Lee, but we need to loosen up today.

kimporter,
At least you got something usable. It is cold season. I'll pass along my Greatgranny's cold remedy recipe, a half a glass of moonshine, a squeeze of lemon and a spoonful of honey. She always felt better after one of those.

My Christmas gift to myself was a "R-word" BlackHawk in .327 Fed Mag, but due to family health issues I haven't gotten to shoot it. On a more positive note, I am due to take my youngest niece out to the range Wednesday and shoot the 31-1 I'll be giving her in March when she hits age 21 and legal. I'll probably shoot the BH at the same time. Hope you all will enjoy the rest of the Holiday Season.

I didn't get my H&H shotgun or a Las Vegas showgirl. I don't think there is a Santa Claus. Mrs. Tops has been making all kinds of goodies and I am trying to see how much I can eat. We have been well blessed for 43 years of marriage so it has been another good Christmas. Larry

Default I got my wish

Okay, this isn't funny but I think you'll agree that I did okay.

Yesterday my wife of 35 years and I were in the kitchen preparing the feeding trough for the family when we heard the darndest noise coming from outside the front door. We went to the door to see a young girl about 9-10 years old walking down the sidewalk bawling her eyes out, calling for "Brodie".
It seems that her little dog had slipped his leash and had taken off. She was so heart-broken that I couldn't help but get tears in my eyes. Bad enough to lose your little pal but on Christmas day to boot. I told my wife, when I composed myself, I was going to go drive around and see if I could find her little buddy. I prayed that he wouldn't end up killed by a car or snatched by someone.

Well, ol' Santa must of made another pass by our neighborhood because my wife called me and BRODIE HAS BEEN FOUND ALIVE!!!

That's all I needed to have a special day.

That and several cups of cheer and a great time with the in-laws(yes it can happen!)and family.

Hobie

I really wanted peace on Earth and Good Will to Men, sadly I did not get again this year. I will keep asking though.

What I did get though was the ability to make a nice donation to our local food bank. At our ages we have more stuff than we really need, and with so many who are not as lucky why not give a little extra.

Was supposed to pick up my new M&P 9mm on Thursday when I found out we only got half a Christmas bonus this year(was wondering why the boss ducked out early) I wouldnt mind,I mean half is better than nothing, but it would have been better being told up front instead of end of day 2 days before Christmas. So, the folks at the gun store got a call and an explaination(i put $250 down to hold it and promised to pick it up Fri) for which they understood. But,as luck would have it,my wife was selling off some stock for us anyway so looks like I'll still be picking it up,just a week late.Like I said..better than nuthin!!

Default My Christmas................:)

Well, I wanted a yearly membership ($175) at the local shooting range. My Sweety came through. I got a fairly expensive bed a year ago and the protective cover (for warranty) SUXX!! My Sweety went out and got us a Gore-tex like cover that completely encloses the mattress. A serious bonus when it doesn't pop off the corners. I got some great music cd's and a Sharper Image Shiatsu massage cover for the CPU chair. She took the time to write a very heart-felt message in a card and put it in a custom motorcycle calendar for me. She had dinner cooked, got me beer and fixxins' for good coffee on a cold night(Baileys-n-whiskey), and had all the grocery shopping done. She is all right..................

I really wanted to walk again as my Christmas gift. Got that today when the doctor gave me permission to put weight on my previously shattered pelvis again! Yay for me!

Christmas was also good because all the immediate family got to spend it together, despite the long drive and conflicting schedules of some.

On the more *ahem* materialistic side, I was hoping for a gun or something gun related. My dad is an accumulator of nice guns, and occasionally I get the benefit of his cast-offs for Christmas or my birthday. Didn't happen this year, but I got enough cash, gift cards and other loot to make up for it.

Honestly, I really did not need, or want too much practically speaking. I did get a shooting bag and a box of .357 's. My wife wanted me to get a gun before Christmas as my present from her. Couldn't find anything. (realistic) On the 25th, I bought a 28-2 on GB. Hope it comes this week, and get to shoot the 1st! Bob

With the preface that Christmas is really about the greatest gift to all mankind.....

On the worldly level my wonderful wife let me make the goal of buying another 1911 in calendar year 2011.

It's not a S&W but I like it.

I'm a widower with a daughter that lives across the country from me so Christmas at my house is really a non-event. However this year I purchased a Luger from a WWII vet in PA, at the time of purchase he sent me a copy of a map he had made at the end of the war with the exact location of the luger capture marked. A couple of days before Christmas this year in the mail arrived the original map. Considering I have two weapons that this man returned and the provenance this puts on the luger I have, it was greatly appreciated and one of the best presents I could have ever wished for.

The back of the map was signed by the members of his company. The map is dated June 30/1945

Sorry, but like alot of people, I didn't get a S&W for Christmas. I had been wishing for this since the NRA show this spring. Winchester had a display of the new 92s', and on that wall was a 16" barelled big loop SRC with a correct carbine sight.
I sold my 94 trapper about a year ago, that had a custom carbine buttstock and a John Wane big loop on it---- which got removed before sale, with hopes of getting a 92.
I've been waiting since the NRA show, and finally two, and I mean only two, showed up at Cabella's just before Thanksgiving. I picked the one with the nicer wood, even though I wanted the .44 ---- .357s are ok too. Pistol calibers are so much more fun in 92s.

That jolly ol elf know who's been naughty or nice...St. Nick always stops by here, for re-mounts and egg nog.

Drop this'n off for me to ponder for a spell, thinks he wants a re-barrel and a custom rig.

My greatest Christmas gift was flying my two son's home from college for a two week visit during the holiday break. our budget has been tight with two boys in college this year. At the last gun show my favorite had a pile of model 10 trade ins. I got a nice 10-5 at a good price. Sometimes just the thrill of another S&W in the herd is awesome. Can a man really have too many model 10's.

My blessings have been many and my needs are met.

You guys get all the good stuff. I didn't even want an S&W this Christmas. I wanted a Winchester. I've been wanting a M21 for years now, but Santa just can't see his way to do it. I've also kind of wanted a M92 in .32-20, but those are a bit pricey too.

So I didn't get much of anything. Lookin' under the tree, I can see one shirt, probably off brand. I have no idea why Santa brings those. If it doesn't fit right, I just let it hang in the closet for her to complain about. I didn't give her much either. We spent most of our money on our kids and grandkids.

As always you never know what Grandpa will be wrapping up and passing along. Oldest son got a chunk of lead ($1 at a flea market, and he liked it). He also got a single 45 ACP die - I think it was an expanding die that was on the "new to me" press I bought cheap. Oldest son got a Timney trigger for his AR. It was on a blister pack (the way they come) and no one but me, him, and younger son had a clue of what they cost. Younger son got a 100 round AR magazine. Again, no one else knows what they cost. The really painful part is by giving those things away, its clear I have no intention of ever putting together an AR. Of course I gave cash to them, too. Being I'm a tacky old man. Funny thing is, none of them, sons or their wifes, ever complain about getting tacky Christmas gifts. Ya gotta wonder.

Maybe I've been a bad boy over the last year. I don't know or care all that much. Since he didn't bring me much the last few years, I'll be gunning for him if he shows up offseason. I'm already makin' plans for a reindeer BBQ.

Sorry Kimporter. I sold an ASM Schofield, .45 LC, 5" barreled Wells Fargo model at a gun show in Denver just a few weeks back. It was possibly unfired, in the box dated 1997. I turned around and invested the proceeds in a pre model 24, .44 hand ejector, fourth model, 1950 Target, bright blue. I couldn't be happier right now. Pretty much a dollar for dollar, straight across deal.

The day after Thanksgiving I was driving my daughter home (she lives out of state) and we stopped in a new (to me) gun store. My wife sat in the car while my daughter and I went in. When we returned to the car I told my wife about a Winchester '94 that was in there, said it was a great price but I had no use for it (I'm a pistol guy and we live in a state where you can't hunt deer with a rifle). She asked, "Do you want it?" and I said, yes, I had wanted one since I was about ten years old. She ordered me to go back in and buy it.

The reason that it was so cheap was that someone had slapped on about 1/8" inch of the ugliest polyurethane I had ever seen. Metal and wood were in great shape, but that finish looked like a drunk had applied it. I stripped the stock and forearm and oiled them and the gun looks like it just emerged from the box.

That was my Christmas!

Update - I shot it for the first time today and hit shotgun clays offhand, easily, at 25 yards. A nice first outing despite the cold muddy weather. I expect that mostly I will hunt vicious 2-liter water-filled bottles with it.

I bought myself a nice 1981 vintage Remington 700 with a 3x9 Redfield scope in 22-250. It is like new and I got it for a nice price. It has turned out to be a good shooter too. I get more pleasure giving than receiving. My kids are grown and are happy to get money. My grand kids on the other hand...

I told my wife not to get me anything because I had agreed to buy a S&W 15-2 and a Ruger Single Six from my brother. I "bought" them this summer, but he brought them home for Christmas (he lives in Yuma, AZ). The wife still got me some DVD's and a shirt so that I'd have some stuff to open on Christmas.

SIG SP2022 in nine...

My wife got the laser that came with to put on HER SP2022.

I will be the wet blanket here. First I am christian but yet belive the present thing is for kids. We have many grandkids and give presents but expect nothing from anyone. I was single most my life and christmas was a tripletime holiday for me for 35 years. If I dont already have it, I dont need it. Okay I gotta quit lieing. I just broke down and ordered a exercise bike, a elipitical climber and treadmill for theresa. About $3,900s counting warrantys. It`s her christmas, brithday and our anniversity presents. I got a razor from a stepdaughter, and a goodie candie basket from the girl who is my broker.

I'm like Merril,Christmas is for the kids. My wife and I are at a point in our lives where we just get what we want when we want it (assuming it's something we can afford). No waiting for that "special day". I usually hand out cash to the kids and grandkids so that they can get something that THEY want. Of course that ain't relegated to Christmas only. Most of you grandfathers know of which I speak. My wife,on the other hand, buys Christmas gifts for EVERYBODY she has ever known beginning with the January sales.

I was hoping for ammo.
But got a couple of items that require ammo.
I was very pleased.

I am hard to buy for, if I see something I really want, my incredible wifey just says "if you have the money, buy it..." so I basically get what I want all year. This was our 20th anniversary, so we went on an incredible trip to Mexico for our birthdays and anniversary.

Christmas, she surprised me with a beautiful Ruger LCP NRA Edition! I had mentioned back in about August that my gun pusher had one, and I thought it was pretty neat. She went the next day and bought it for me! She is definitely a keeper!

I meant the wife is a keeper.

But, the LCP is too.

Thought I should clarify that just a bit.

I was hoping for maybe a CZ75B or more likely a bicycle work stand. But my wife lost her job a couple of weeks before christmas, so I ended up giving her money to shop for gifts for her kids and parents. I had bought them all gifts, too, plus my son and grandson, sibs and nepots. I did get a nice bathrobe and some slippers, and was able to buy myself an F.E.G. that caught my eye in a pawn shop, but not a Hi-Power clone, more of a Model 59 clone.

The best part was getting to spend a couple of days with kids, dogs and other family, eating some tasty pork in a few of its many forms, and drinking some good mid-priced bubbly.

Ever seen the sour cream "caulking guns" they use at Taco Bell? I've asked for one of those the last 4 or 5 years, still haven't gotten one.

Really cool provenance, and I love stuff like that.
Good for you.
Thanks so much for the comments. If you enjoy the provenance of some of these old weapons, here is the story of a 1937 Luger I have that is in one of Ed Tinker's capture bring back books. I purchased the weapon from the son of the vet and he shared everything he could find from his father with me. Seems his wife didn't want a weapon in the house after his father passed away. My good fortune I guess that she was so liberal. The Morning report was a log kept by the first Sargent's in his unit during the war. Rufus Arnold is mentioned twice in the pages that follow. The weapon was a surrender weapon at the very end of the war and is 100% matching and in 90% condition with a mint bore and matching numbered magazine.

Well, I was hoping for a rifle or ammo but got neither. What I did get were both handgun and rifle cleaning pads for the weapon to lay on during cleaning and a MTM Case Guard cleaning/sight in stand. Plus a $100 gift card to Acadamy Outdoors and Sports.
I think our best Christmas gift was to each other in that we went on the Tuesday before Christmas to hear Celtic Woman with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. And then on New Years Eve at the Gunshow, I was seriously thinking of buying and M&P 15. The guy had one at his table and I held off long enough that someone bought it. Next thing I know I'm at the next table looking at a Bushmaster and hearing my wife's voice saying "buy it, buy it.

I was hoping for Peace on Earth and Good Will Towards Men. All I got was three new Dress Shirts and a tie.

I have been asking for a Ferrari for about 25 years now without success, you think my luck would change.

Late to the thread, but I really wanted a M25-5 4", nickel, acp or a LNIB M66 no dash. What I got was a chance to spend Christmas with my grand daughter, daughter in law, son and my lovely wife. Kind of makes what I thought I wanted seem rather foolish. Had a great Christmas.
