Is there a way to find out if a person has cashed a USPS Money Order? I am having a custom product made and the seller said that they were close to finishing it and would like payment now.
I sent a USPS Money Order 3 weeks ago and the receiver has neither sent the product or responded to emails enquiring as to whether they received the MO. Sending a check, you can tell when it clears, not so sure about a MO. Any ideas? Thanks.

I still have the receipt. I was hoping for something that I could do online since the Post Office is closed until Thursday. Also, I wonder what they charge for the service.

This wasn't a package. It was a USPS Money Order and I just mailed it regular mail :( so no tracking number. The receiver is someone very reputable (I hope).

From USPS.com.

Call the money order verification system at 866-459-7822.

To verify if the money order you were given is valid. I assume if it has been cashed it will no longer be a valid S/N?

Edit: I just called the number above and it is an automated verification system. Pull out your receipt and call it in.

I think you have to go to the PO and pay $5 to see if one was cashed, but it would be worth it because I THINK they also tell you who, when, where.

They also have a call center in Arkansas? I think===where they can immediately find out.

I was referring to trying to see if you could track the Money Order, it has a tracking number...

All of the above, as well as my personal experience, cement my belief that postal money orders are among the least efficient forms of long-distance payment. After standing in line for a half-hour to buy one, tracking it is problematic. Cashiers Checks are far better.
