That is truly sad but not unexpected. He has had health issues for several years. He was truly one of the greatest generation and I loved hearing him give Parker advice. He ran his crew with a much cooler head.
How about he died on the day they were doing the show about Parker's experience growing up as a gold miner, first at Grandpa John's side, then at the Big Nugget on his own before striking out to the Yukon on his own. Remarkable timing...a great sendoff for a great man. RIP Grandpa!
Parker has become more of his own man today with grandpa gone. He lost his best freind. I hope Parkers dad steps up to the plate to support Parker more. Now he has to stop and ask himself what would grandpa do when problems arise. I predict Parker will continue on the path for great success. He has two options one to invest the gold and retire or invest the gold and stay mining. He can retire by 40yo on some tropical iland?
Not much of a turnout for Americas favorite grandpa here. He was more than a class act. He was a mayor, he built a sawmill near the river so he could ship lumber, he started gold mining at 65yo. I hope they do a documentary on John Schnabel. I don't think Parker could of had a better mentor than grandpa.
The whole family is an example of down to earth people.
When Parker has a problem his dad makes Parker think about the solution.
Making Parker think on his own. His dad won't be around forever. Dad might retire someday where it's warm. Where were we when we were 21yo?
It must hurt Todd to be looking up at this kid. The kid has been with grandpa mining since he was out of diapers. Experience on the job training.
Then the kid sells Todd firewood and tells them how to get there sluce working.
