I ain't but we still had a few gawd's-emptying-a-bucket-on-our-heads downpours yesterday, rough estimate we got between nine-ten inches of rain in about twelve hours

I live by Lee creek but I'm on a hill about a hundred or so feet above it so if it gets up here we're all screwed.

We had two major rain storms come through yesterday, the first was very early morning, between two to seven AM and there was some thunder! one crack made me think a bomb went off!

I'm always a little leery about that since on the other side of the hill from me along the Ohio river we have train tracks and I know those things can go kerblooy every now and then.

Past couple years we've had thunder like that, makes you think it's right on the ground next to you.

As of right now from what I'm hearing looking around the death toll is at 24,this is in some ways worse then the 2012 storm that took us for a ride and a half.

Someone who has a "friend of a friend" on another forum I follow/read says Summersville lake got an extra 43 billion gals of water,I've seen some pictures and don't doubt it,Greenbrier is basically a lake right now.

And there are places they can't get to right now in the mountains so we'll probably have more dead as the days go on.

Nature went a bit psycho on us,I'm lucky as it didn't get too bad up here.

Are you near Huntington?

Me? no I'm up below Parkersburg/Belpre,OH we just got pissed on in an epic fashion basically.

Only reason I bought my place is it's one on a hill away from the water, and two I'm on the opposite side of the hill (we had a bloody tornado two weeks after I moved in)

The 2012 storm was more widespread then this one,the mountains are the ones who caught it this time unfortunately.

Here's a picture from Summersville lake that was posted, the upper picture is normal at this time of year, the bottom is what it looks like right now,guy says the normal is the top of that island is about 90-100ft from the water,so yea that got a LOT of rain.

Heart goes out to the folks who have lost their homes, vehicles, and loved ones from this disaster. Seems so many areas of the country are battered with fires in California, flooding in W. Virginia, and tornadoes in oklahoma and Kansas. News coverage is sickening to see such suffering.

I know your location very well. I lived there for 7yrs before moving to Parkersburg.

Belleville? by the locks and dam? Humphrey school is the place that got run over by the tornado in 2010 during the homecoming.

Unless you're in a low spot floods aren't much to worry about here, granted there are a few but for the most part it's all hills back here.

Wow, should be some interesting rafting when they start draining the lake into the Gauley river!

Picture posted by Kronos was jaw dropping!! Not surprised so many homes were flooded. Tragic loss of life including that 4 year old boy.

Although I live in Northeast Ohio now, the news literally hit home to me. I was born in the town of Ronceverte in Greenbriar County, among the hardest hit. Nearly all of my extended family live in Monroe County which borders Greenbriar.

After a few anxious phone calls and text messages I was assured they are all ok. Thankfully they were spared the worst of the rainfall and only lost power for a day or so, with no major flooding.

Still worried about a couple loved ones who live along Route 119 near Charleston. I have been unable to get through to them. Looks like they got hit pretty hard. Hopefully the cell phone service is down or overloaded. I sure would appreciate it if you could remember them in your prayers.

Best regards, Bob.
