I love my LED bulbs and have replaced all of my remaining old fashion CFLs and incandescents, even the decorative bulbs. I have a bargain electricity retailer so they do not do free bulb offers. Modern LEDs are the best bulbs I've used. LED bulbs can be bought cheap these days, I did the transition without utility assistance and am pleased with the result.

As long as they are daylight balanced, around 3200 K, then I'm good. IF you get those blue green ones I doubt you'll keep them.

I've been slowly transitioning over to daylight CFLs or Leds and the Mrs hasn't noticed.

These are 2700 K. My husband swapped one CF bulb out in each of three pairs of table lamps, to do a side-by-side comparison with the LED. The old bulbs had a more brown/sepia color tone versus a whiter color LED, but not a harsh white.

The big difference is that we see better/more with the LED bulbs. Two of the comparison lamps sit on a colorful patterned woven runner on a long sideboard. The color and pattern really popped in the light of the new LEDs. Also, our old eyes have an easier time reading under the LEDs. And the colors of the clothes in the WIC are easier to distinguish.

Default Let There Be More Light

A month after Duke Power sent us that free case of LED bulbs, they emailed us a promo code that we just used to order five more free LED bulbs. So if you are a Duke customer, watch your email.

Several years ago, the local power company was selling the LEDs through a supermarket chain for $1 each (60 watt equivalent), and I bought a dozen. I still see them on sale for about $1.50, and not long ago I bought several of those for that price at the Family Dollar Store. I am very satisfied with them and they do make sense.
