I’m looking for a handgun case for taking guns to the range. I need something that will hold up to four medium revolvers or pistols. I dont necessarily need space for ammo and accessories, but would consider same. Prefer a soft sided case. Any recommendations?

I have a handgun backpack that I got through the NRA but a google search for "handgun backpack" came up with several similar to what I have. I love mine as it holds four handguns with barrels up to 6 inches easily and has lots of pockets for magazines, hearing protection, etc. Mine has seen a lot of miles and the soft handle on top is the only area that is showing any wear.

It provides well-padded protection, but of course it doesn't rise to the level of a hard-sided case. I recommend them highly.

I have a bag that is just a nice carry bag, but I also have a pistol rug for each pistol, so they're protected inside, and the bag didn't cost a lot.

I have an old soft-side canvas briefcase left over from my working years, about large enough for a laptop computer, multiple compartments inside. It will easily hold several handguns, safety glasses, ear protection, and a few boxes of ammo. Nothing fancy but it works.

I have one just like this one. Very nice bag.

I have had "pistol bags" in the past also. Gave them all up in favor of a Craftsman tool box. So much more convenient, with lids on the top for quick access to earplugs, screwdrivers, etc etc. The range bags look cool, but mine sits up in the attic now

In the tool department at Home Depot, they have lots of multi-pocket tool bags. I am sure that they have one for any number of guns you wish. I have 4 or 5 set with all the accessories (target and holder clips, small assortment of screw drivers and cleaning equip., Stapler and staples, bullet hole pasters. I have them ready to go, just drop in guns and ammo.

I prefer hard sided cases, but I'm kinda hard on stuff. Plano makes a nice one for about $25. Pelican makes a real nice one for about $250. I use both company's products. Pelican is worth the money, but Plano will get the job done if you're not too rough on it . . .

Very nice to see folks recommending tool bags! On a couple of the more tacti-cool sites I've been ridiculed for recommending such. They're usually cheaper than "range bags", are sturdy, and best of all do NOT scream GUN. I've been using them for decades and been very happy.

I usually just use individual soft cases and depending in what goes to the range pack them in a heavy duty backpack or duffle bag. As some of the indoor ranges have small lane benches so I prefer the individual handgun bags/soft cases to save table space.

I have a nylon bowling ball bag I found somewhere, just looked and can find no manufacture info.
Reinforced bottom, ditched the insert for the ball. Revolvers in their socks, ammo and muffs along with tool kit just sort of pile in the main compartment and outer pockets take care of the rest. Whole thing is about 10x10x18 long.

I've ended up with several plastic hand gun cases over the years. Got most of them with trades. Don't use any of them. The bag that BRL 40 posted about is far more versatile for range trips.
Been using an NRA carry bag along with the zippered soft pistol rugs but I need to upgrade. The NRA bag was a sign up gift and is pretty cheaply made.

I don’t know much about soft sided cases .I use rigid pelican cases . They can be had in a myriad of sizes and are very strong .
I had an accident on my way home from the range a few years ago , wrote off my truck , hit the ditch hard enough that my gun boxes and ammo cans were ejected from back of the truck , ammo cans broke open and I spent an hour picking up ammo ,tools and accessories out of the sagebrush. The pelican cases were unscathed the guns inside hadn’t even shifted position .
Check out pelican case destruction tests on YouTube . Impressive .

I also like the Craftsman tool box for range accessories. It keeps everything organized. I carry my pistols in a Doro hard case. It was about a hundred bucks and keeps up to five guns and a bunch of magazines firmly in place.

I can't see any advantage of a soft case over a hard one except for the price and when you're into shooting and already have multiple pistols, what's another hundred bucks?

I have had the Osage River Tactical Range Bag for years and have often recommended it to friends and family. I have the standard size bag in tan rather than the smaller bag option.

I pack at least 3 pistols and 300 rounds of ammo plus safety equipment, tools, and targeting material in the bag. I still have room for additional items like snacks and a drink.

The Osage River bag is well designed and constructed for the shooting enthusiast.

I also like the Craftsman tool box for range accessories. It keeps everything organized. I carry my pistols in a Doro hard case.

I found that Doro very interesting, not necessarily for a little range trip but sure could see that being handy when spending a day plinking on family land. When searching Doro info I also saw Case Club multi handgun hard cases. Some which include spots for accessories.

Yep i can see value in a hard case like one of these.

I've gotten good service from a small Doskocil 4-handgun hard case that will hold N-frame revolvers with barrels up to 6", maybe 6 1/2". This isn't a top of the line case and probably didn't cost much but even the foam divider between the top and bottom compartments has held up well.

Back in the day when I first started bullseye shooting I used a soft sided carry-on suitcase. It worked semi OK, but it also required that I have a tripod to stand up my spotting scope. In those years "everyone" used a Pachmayr box with the scope permanently mounted on the flip up side of the box.

I ended up buying a Gil Hebard competition box, which I continue to use to this day. It holds up to 5 handguns, the scope, ear muffs and sufficient ammo for all 5.

Used ones in nice condition come up on ebay quite often, plus I understand that a new company is copying them.

One hundred bucks is one hundred bucks...might even get you 200 small pistol primers one day.

I've had enough money to buy some nice guns over the years, and I've been broke enough to sell a lot of them too.

My soft range bag didn't cost me much and does a fine job of packing my shooting stuff to the range, either indoor or outdoor.

...In those years "everyone" used a Pachmayr box with the scope permanently mounted on the flip up side of the box...

I remember those at the range!

Some show-off snob strolls up to the bench, flips open the lid , and breaks out his Colt Gold Cup...HA!

Take a look at cases offered by 'Bulldog'. I have one of their hard/soft pistol cases. Nylon/cordura outer with hard sides & bottom. Very well constructed and have heavy duty zippers. Prices are very reasonable.

Or, if you change your mind and decide to go with a hard case, Pelican makes some good stuff also priced reasonably. I just picked-up a 'Vault' model for my 7.5" SRH. Thick (trimmable foam) and heavy duty handle & latches. Several sizes to choose from. Very nice case for $60.00.
