Need help, Barbara Hershey movie
There was a short film on television in the early 70’s. It played as one of 2 or 3 short films. I believe it starred Barbara Hershey. She receives a package or gift. The package is a small statue with a tribesman in it. There’s a necklace on the statue and a warning not to remove it or it sets the statue’s spirit free.
Later, Barbara is talking with her mom on the phone and they get into an argument. Afterwards, she knocks the necklace off of the statue. It comes to life and attacks her. Finally, she throws it in the oven. After she thinks it is dead, she opens the oven to peek in. There is some commotion or an explosion.
The scene then cuts to Hershey talking on the phone with her mom and apologizing. She can be seen from behind or just the side of her face. Her mom agrees to come over. The scene ends with a smiling Hershey, grinning with the sharp teeth of the aborigine and holding a knife while waiting for her mom to show up.
Does anyone know the name of this movie? Google was no help!

Fetish Movie
I think the story you are referring to is a part of a Trilogy of Terror show.
It was the third and last part. It starred Karen Black, who purchased an African fetish doll of an African warrior. I had to look it up as I remember the story but didn’t think Barbara Hershey was in it. Willyboy

Yes, you are correct! Karen Black, not Barbara Hershey! Thank you!

Trilogy of Terror. I remember that now but I haven't thought about it for decades. I can think of another episode that Karen Black was in but it would take too long to describe it. I wonder why this hasn't ended up on something like MeTV or sold as DVDs.

Barbara Hershey was not my favorite, and I never thought of her as a big star, but she appeared in a very large number of movies during her career

The first film I remember seeing her in was Last Summer, back in 1969. One of her most memorable roles was as Glennis Yeager in The Right Stuff...

The movie is available on DVD and Blu-ray. That doll made quite an impression on me as a kid. I once gave a recreation of the doll to my sister as a gag birthday gift. She keeps it in an outdoor shed - just in case.

it did end up on MeTV.. about a year ago (Oct 2022) it was shown on Svengoolie... which means it will be on again eventually... the better half is a horror movie junky, so I am along for the ride... it was classic B movie horror.

Is there anything you can't find on YouTube, accidentally or purposely? A month or so ago I had a flash thought about a movie I remembered watching in the 50s or 60s. It was called Hajji Baba. I looked on YouTube, and there it was, uncut and in all its Technicolor and CinemaScope glory. I didn't watch much of it, just enough to establish it was the movie that I remembered. Sort of an Arabian desert epic with lots of scantily-clad Harem girls. I may go back sometime to watch the whole thing. Nat King Cole sang the theme, and it was a big hit for him at the time, also titled "Hajji Baba." Nat King Cole Hajji Baba (Persian Lament) - YouTube

That explains it. We didn't get MeTV on DirecTV until about a month ago.

We have DishNet. MeTV was dropped a while back, dang it. Svengoolie was one of our favorite shows.

Boxcar Bertha

Martin Scorsese was learning to make something from nothing.

She never seemed to have a great leading role, but was an excellent supporting actress. I think her early-on relationship with David Carradine hurt her career as a leading lady, but she's one of my favorites. She plays Michael Douglas's estranged wife in Falling Down, and had a great role as the strange serial murderess Harriet Byrd in The Natural. Her filmography is surprisingly long.
